1976 Jeep Cherokee Chief 360
Summary:
I will never get rid of my Cherokee Chief, it can't be replaced
Faults:
I've owned the Cherokee since it was new.
I've had to replace the rear drive shaft at least 3 times, and with less than 15,000 miles each time. Once I went to straight u-joints and eliminated the constant velocity u-joint, the problem went away.
Clutch also seem to go out too frequently.
General Comments:
This vehicle was put together well. I've driven it everywhere up until a few years ago.
Got almost 80K miles on its first set of brakes.
Cooling system never had a problem, heater core went south when it was 25 years old.
I love the 4-speed manual transmission, and its granny gear. Great for creeping along, or going down steep grades off road.
I've abused it off road, and it always started right up, got me where I wanted to go.
The Cherokee is the best, most dependable vehicle I've ever owned. Hence why I've kept it for 33 years.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

My husband has one for sale. He got it in a trade and hasn't done anything to it. It does not run, and he sold the tires and is selling. I really like it and was wondering if you know how much it is worth? The inside is great and the outside looks good to me. I want to fix it, but he doesn't. What is your input? Thanks so much for your time.
