Faults:

Brakes only, so far, warp rotors and squeeling.

General Comments:

Looks great, comfortable, fast, good torque, but brakes squeek or shimmy under high speed - probably warped rotor problems.

Faults:

I had the jeep for 6 months when it began taking longer and longer to start. I took it to the dealer and they said I was losing fuel pressure at the rail. They replaced the entire fuel module assembly. (pump, filter, computer). While they had the jeep they noticed a small leak from the front differential which was a pinion seal gone bad. After having the jeep for a week (waiting on parts for fuel module) they put it back together and noticed the engine making a ticking noise. Mechanic thought it was lifters. This dealer has been in service for about 10 years and they said they have never had to open up a jeep 4.0 liter before. Warranty company sent one of their mechanics over from St. Louis (about a 3 hour drive) to confirm. He agreed and after another week they got my jeep back together for me. I paid $300 for all this, $100 deductible and $200 in miscellaneous parts not covered. I signed a $1,400 bill for the warranty. Also had the power window module go out which cost me $230.

General Comments:

Even with the lifter problem, which I think was a fluke, I love this jeep. I have added a 2" lift and 30" tires. It looks a little better, and performs much better. I pull a 10ft enclosed trailer on trips of anywhere from 100 to 600 miles round trip. Jeep has no problems doing this. I also pull a friends 22ft boat and trailer with no problem. He says it pulls as good if not better than his 96 Dodge Ram with an 8 cylinder. This jeep gets around town and performs as a family car, but is also a good work truck if need be. It's not too big or small and does what you need it to do. Could get a little better gas mileage though, but that's expected with a box shaped vehicle slightly modified.

Faults:

Water Pump blew at 38,000 miles

Serpentine belt needed to be replaced at 42,000 miles.

Hub caps fell off of 2 wheels at 43,000.

General Comments:

I loved getting my Jeep. Handles the road very well. Our family of 5 fit very comfortably in it.

At about 39,000 miles the check gage light came on and oil pressure was dropping.

Was told by numerous mechanics nothing wrong. They said to try 20-25 oil.

I finally took it to a JEEP dealership when one mechanic said it was oil pump. I was under the impression that I was being taken for a ride. How could my 4-year-old truck need such a costly repair?

I was in for a major shock. Excessive engine wear due to cylinder spacing. This is causing my oil pressure to drop. Repair will be 3500.00. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth. No more warranty. Now I see someone else who said they had a faulty oil pump, which caused their engine to be replaced. Is Jeep hiding something?
