Faults:

As of 1-14-2007 I have water in the oil and water pouring out the back of the block while running. It is looking like the entire block will need to be replaced. I didn't, but a Jeep because I wanted to spend a fortune driving it. I am not a wealthy man so this is just terrible.

Three door locks are screaming out in pain when locking or unlocking the doors, and the passenger door won't unlock period.

The brakes are fun.

The wipers went out for two years while the dealership told me it was a body control module and I had to pay 700.00 to fix it. I said no of course. Two years later I have it at a family members shop and a new kid on the block ran a simple diagnostic on the Jeep and the problem was a 18.00 dollar module. Which by the way, the dealership told me there was no wiper module and that everything was controlled by the body control module.

General Comments:

I have mixed from day one with this car. I loved the increase in power from a 4 cylinder, but the fuel just seems to pour right through this suv. I am getting 11.4 mpg.

The extended warranty I purchased has covered absolutely nothing that has gone wrong. It is amazing that any part that is more apt to fail is not covered. Isn't the whole point of offering an extended warranty to cover the vehichle front to back??? If a certain part is apt to fail then don't you think the manufacturer should fix the part to meet long term standards??? I know of no one who purchases a car for the sake of spending money fixing it.

Brake Lights don't work when lights are on

Door Lock Grinds

Radiator Busted

Radiator hoses leaked

Brakes Squeal

Replaced Heater Core (expensive) at 75,000 miles.

General Comments:

The Brake light on my Jeep, and many of my friends circa. 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokees don't light up when the Head Lights are on. The driver's side lock grinds as well, pretty much right after I bought the vehicle.

I saw some comments recommending to send in complaints, which I am all for. If anyone has an idea of where to make the complaints, please post the information.

Faults:

Passenger side control arm.

Rotors.

Water pump.

Window motor.

Axle seals.

Rear end.

General Comments:

Very nice to look at, set in. and when it wasnt breaking down or something going wrong, was very pleasant to drive. BUT, in only a few months of ownership,it never went longer than 2 weeks without a repair!. I've never had such a piece of crap that needed constant repairs like this! you get better reliability out of a $100 car!! I'LL never buy this companies products again because of this.

Faults:

I just purchased a used 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited a week ago from a private seller. The seller disclosed that the rear door locks grind when opened, but I knocked the repair cost off the purchase price. I have had the car for only a week and the check engine light is now on and they are telling me it is a transmission issue. The Dealer said they would either have to replace the solenoid or rebuild the transmission so I took it to an independent mechanic and it is being analyzed now.

Any thoughts on transmission issues? Am I in for a long haul with this car?

Faults:

Replace and/or machine rotors many times. Replace radiator. Replace air conditioning compressor. Tail/brake lights. Automatic headlights...

General Comments:

Thank heavens for the review by jrdahle above. I've had the exact problem with my tail/brake lights. I did exactly what he said and it solved the 4 year nightmare. The ground on the left taillight assembly just needed to be pryed up a little so it would make contact. Thank you.
