2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
Summary:
Substandard
Faults:
Brake pulsation at 19,000, water leak thru rear window at 19,600, A/C compressor at 21,000, left rear door handle lock at 24,000, both front rotors at 24,300, dealer replaced..
CV joint (right front) at 29,000.
Both front rotors again at 38,000, out of warranty, had Midas turn them, worked OK until we hit about 50,000, and back to the same. Dealer said that was a factory defect; they had put on smaller size rotors for that size of SUV, and that I would have to buy another set of newly designed rotors, which were bigger, and I would have to foot the bill, because Chrysler would replace them free to all under warranty, and go 1/2 if 50,000 miles or less. I had to pay over $500 dollars to buy this new kit, and have it installed. 2 rotors, pads, caliper equals one very unhappy customer, and a NEW Japanese car buyer.
General Comments:
I hope the Japanese car marketing folks are reading this too.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

There was a memo to the dealers to replace the calipers and pads... if the customer comaplained. Be sure to have the dealer look it up. They replaced my calipers, pads, and rotors. NO CHARGE.
