2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 V6
Summary:
Jeep GC, not a good buy, Pass on it!!!
Faults:
Transmission bad at Approx. 30,000. Rebuilt under Warranty...
Transmission Replaced again at about 75,000 miles. Not under warranty and cost $2000.
Replaced 2 sets of Rotors and Calipers and had approx. 4-5 brake jobs in total.
Engine light has came on years ago and stays on most of the time, but, from time to time goes off.
Currently having issues with Acceleration. Hit the gas, car sits and the RPMs hit about 2500 then it kicks in. Does this in between first and 2nd too. Funny thing is, it has been working great over the last 7-10 days and engine light is off right now. Who knows...
Replaced Actuator on rear door.
Replaced Power motor for fronts windows.
Replaced sway bar Bushings twice and they say they need to be replaced again. Makes awful noise in cold weather when going over intersections.
Took my Jeep in this week for 2 tires, they told me I need 2 tie rods and my rear axle is leaking. the estimate the gave me was $800.
General Comments:
I would not buy another Jeep. I have always given car companies the benefit of doubt. Believe every car is a hit or miss, but, after reading all the articale user have posted, I have realized that Chrysler does have quality issues and this is more the norm rather than the exception.
I also have to say, for a smaller SUV, gas mileage stinks too.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I unfortunately agree. I bought my wife a brand new Grand Cherokee Laredo, fully loaded in 2001. She thought at the time it was her dream car. The vehicle NEVER went off road and was never in an accident. Not a door ding on her!
At 40,000 miles, the transmission needed to be repaired, the rear end was bad, the brake rotors were warped, there was an oil leak in the front of the motor that 3 different Jeep/Dodge dealers could not fix and the heated seats no longer worked. All told, the estimate to repair all was over $10K!
I will NEVER buy a Jeep or Dodge product again in my life. We traded that piece of crap for a Lexus Rx330, and my wife could not be happier! Both of us run Toyota's products now, and could not be happier. Great Work Jeep/Dodge. This is why american car manufacturers are going bankrupt!
