Faults:

At 41290 had front brake job. At 44546 replaced Gov Pressure sensor & solenoid sensor. This cost from the dealer was over 500.00, of course not covered by manufacturer as over warranty. Currently when highway driving at speeds of 50mph vehicle has some shaking felt in the steering wheel.

General Comments:

Currently, when trying to start vehicle it tries to turn over, but seems not to catch. Dealer told me to count 7 seconds before giving up as this is normal while still cranking on the switch. This is my third jeep & it is not normal by the other two. Had a 1993 & never had the problems that I am currently experiencing. Help! Has anyone else had this happen. I would like to understand what might be happening so that I can get it fixed.

General Comments:

I am very irritated by what I am reading. Cars are man made. Some are built stronger than others, but the bottom line is that if you hot rod your vehicle, smash on the brakes and abuse the vehicle, yes, it's going to require you to spend a little more money. Cars--better yet, nothing in society is built like it used to be. Vehicles are not built now to last forever. Every make of vehicle on here, people are complaining about! Stop complaining so much!!!

Faults:

Entire front braking system needed to be replaced at 15,000 miles.

Heated front passenger seat could not be shut off at 17,000 miles.

Delayed shift in automatic transmission caused terrible stuttering at 22,000 miles.

Transmission sensor just went out and car won't leave 1st gear 32,000 miles.

General Comments:

Jeeps make beautiful cars and off road performance is top notch.

However, number of mechanical problems at low mileage and even with regular maintenance is criminal!

I love the look of the Jeep and try to buy American, but this car is sending me back to Japanese manufacturers forever.

Reliability is shameful and problems can leave you and your family roadside even when relatively new. Very expensive to maintain.

My honest and strongest possible recommendation to avoid Jeeps.

Unless you do heavy off-roading, buy Japanese and their 4X4's are more than capable of handling normal foul weather conditions that most of us face.

Faults:

Air conditioning now has a leak... mechanic added some red dye to track down, but he says that 99% sure it's the evaporator - because this is VERY COMMON.. estimate $800.00 to repair because he has to remove most of dash.

Front brake rotors failed at 42,000 miles - instead of resurfacing I replaced calipers and rotors with upgraded parts. I do my own oil changes and tire rotation, so I properly torque all lugs... hopefully the upgraded factory rotors and calipers will do the trick. $350.00 in parts, was very easy to do myself.

Window regulator on drivers door failed @ 20,000 miles and was replaced under warranty with upgraded unit. I hope the parts really are upgraded.

Transmission shifter did not lock into its position precisely... dealer repaired under warranty - now aok.

Very rough idle... tune up did not help very much.

Front dash tweeter speaker blew... easy to replace... $50.00.

General Comments:

This 2001 V8 2WD is very fast and has very firm suspension. Both good features for me because it feels sporty.

Don't let your tires get worn or you'll spin em easy in any wet conditions.

Fuel economy is 15 city, 19 hwy.
