2002 Jeep Liberty Limied 3.7 V6

Summary:

A lot of bang for your buck!

Faults:

One of the drums on the brakes was warpped when the vehicle was purchased.

General Comments:

This SUV is comfortable and ergonomic.

The engine is peppy; it gets out of it's own way, quickly.

Even the guys like to drive it!

2002 Jeep Liberty Limited Edition 3.7

Summary:

A money pit vehicle

Faults:

The spark plug was defective and the dealer didn't have one in stock in order to repair the car.

The interior does not clean up well.

The gas mileage is terrible.

The seats and carpeting look shabby after only 4 months of usage.

General Comments:

The Jeep Liberty is fun to drive, however, you cannot drive it much due to such poor gas mileage.

So far in snow it has performed very well. The weight of the vehicle and the traction make you feel you can go anywhere.

2002 Jeep Liberty Limited 3.7L V6

Summary:

This was my favorite of all cars I've owned

Faults:

I was forced off the road by a driver running a stop sign. I went head on in to a tree at 25-30 mph and the airbag never deployed. The engine block cracked and they say that the car is totaled. I sustained head trauma and a broken left leg, plus severe soft tissue damage to my right leg. The dealer has stated that the G-switch would have set the bag off only at higher speeds. Good thing my belt was on.

General Comments:

This was the best of all cars I've owned up to his point. However to have my life and safety jeopardized, and very little concern shown from dealer, is very disconcerting. I hope that the manufacturer will show a bit more beneficence and attentiveness.

It is not the dealer that you should be crossed with, but with the manufacturer.

A collision at 25-30 mph should have triggered the airbags.

Whats the point of having the airbags inflate at a higher speed when so much damage was caused to you at a "low speed".

My wife's 03 was hit by a Semi in the drivers door. NO Bag Deployment. Impact of 45 MPH...??? When does the SRS function? She was injured and will require spinal surgery. One other note: The Semi driver was not insured. So, our Uninsured Motorist Coverage denide totaling it and rebuilt the entire left side. Recently we have had to return the vehicle for a complete redo. The Body shop failed to properly locate the side pannel prior to spot welding it in place. What a nightmare.

2002 Jeep Liberty Sport 2.4

Summary:

I loved a Lemon

Faults:

Spark plug "fouled" at 5200 miles.

Spark plug replaced the next day.

Mystery check engine light issue diagnosed as fuel injector problem evolved into engine valve problem and then into cylinder problem, and finally into cracked engine block at 8500 miles, with no overheating incidents.

General Comments:

I loved this Jeep at first, but it has spent more nights than I would care to count in the garage.

The look and handling of the vehicle have been outstanding.

Until things under the hood started failing, I felt very safe in my Liberty Sport.

I felt the same about my Liberty, until I met the 'service' department from Jeep.

I will trade it in as soon as BMW brings it's X3 on the market.

My 2002 Jeep Liberty is presently in the shop and has been for several weeks. The service department doesn't know what's wrong with it. Without warning I started my Jeep and it was idling rough and stalled and the check engine light came on and started flashing. The service department thought it was a bad spark plug and fuel injector, but replacing the parts has not fixed the problem.

2002 Jeep Liberty Sport 3.2L V6

Summary:

Looking for another used Cherokee

Faults:

A noise from the right rear suspension.

The cargo space is smaller than the Cherokee.

The electric window controls are inconveniently located on the center console.

The doors lock by themselves, but do not unlock, you have to unlock using the fob or front locks to open the back.

The brake dive is severe; it gives a false sense of braking until you realize that you are approaching the obstacle in front of you much faster than anticipated.

Handling is poor.

The Liberty has less power than the Cherokee, but weighs 500 lbs more for the 4x4.

General Comments:

Hard seats.

I don't believe the person who wrote this review actually owns a Liberty.

He probably drives around in a Volvo with big wheels (old Cherokee) and has a problem because is car looks very dated now.

Nice try!

But in reality you have not even driven one.

Poor handling?

Bad breaks?

Small cargo space?

This review must be fake!

I think this guy has a problem with the fact the Liberty is and looks much more a Jeep than his Volvo estate (Cherokee).

He still drives his AMC designed (I use this word very loosely) peace of crap and is bashing all thinks new and better, poor guy.
