2002 Jeep Liberty KJ 3.7
Summary:
3.7 is a huge P.O.S. - rest is OK
Faults:
Check engine light came on while driving it home the day I bought it.
I had to replace 2 injectors, 2 plugs and 2 coils. this seemed to cure the problem for about 1 month. then the light was back on. P0304 was the code and dealer said it was my problem now, only 30 days warranty on used car.
Despite the engine light always being on it seemed to run just fine.
General Comments:
The thing has plenty of power and is very fun to drive.
However it's handling is very mushy and feels like it's going to tip over a lot.
This jeep gets the worst gas mileage of any SUV I've ever owned. not even close to it's EPA rating.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I'm also getting a p0304 code as well, I change plugs, switched around the coil packs, tried a brand new coil pack, and even switched injectors 4 and 6 around, I'm still geting a code, and ruff idle, and poor mileage, had you come up with a fix with your problem yet, or does anyone have any suguestions.

The problem everyone is having is the oil that feeds the timing chain is starting to clog. I recommend an oil flush ASAP, as if this clogs all the way the timing will skip and now you have major problems... Everyone please watch this, as if you do any highway driving it will fail and you will need a tow. Also watch the plastic intake runner, and look if it is starting to melt, as this is a sign it is too late. This is a common problem after 50,000 miles, and if you wait you will need a new motor...

P0304 is a misfire in Cylinder number 4. If you have a mis fire, you are going to notice it running rough, and your gas mileage will plummit. This was probably the source of the bad mileage.
