2007 Jeep Patriot 4X4

Summary:

Terrific

Faults:

The only flaw was a small paint issue on the roof rail that was fixed under warranty by the dealer.

General Comments:

The Jeep Patriot has been everything that it promises to be. A versatile, fun, small SUV that delivers some fuel efficiency the Jeep has carried me through some back roads for fun and through some blizzards with a comforting sure footed ride.

I have read some negative comments about interior finish and materials on some sites; some commentors are not really SUV people. If your Jeep is going to be used for outdoor fun, you will really appreciate how nicely a Jeep Patriot cleans up on the inside.

2007 Jeep Patriot North 4x4 2.4

Summary:

Thus far very satisfied

Faults:

No problems to date, ratings given will increase or decrease as ownership continues.

General Comments:

I find the plastic used is no cheaper then my previous vehicle's except the thick covering on the gear shift which popped when changing gears. Solution was to push it down the shaft as much as possible so all corners were bent in. No more popping.

Very roomy compared to my Vue, however the transmission itself although no problems with it is not as responsive as my other previous cars. The gears are closer together so it's easy to hit 5th instead of 3rd and unless the clutch is fully depressed reverse will not always engage properly.

The wrangler tires are pricey, $250.00 per in Canada, already had to replace one and another has a very slow leak.

Only other annoyance is that the vents are limited as to how high you can aim the air flow. I prefer not to have it directly at me, but above me and they are limited as to up/down positioning.

Good news is that I will receive $1,000.00 from the Canadian Government for purchasing the patriot due to it's fuel efficiency.

Up to 20,000 kms now and did have to have the Air Sensor changed already. These should last at least 100,000 kms. Also had to have a rear brake re-aligned as it was installed incorrectly by the manufacturer. I am having the Drivers seat brackets changed as it has jumped out of position 4 times while I was driving and this is a safety issue. My opinion of the standard transmission has not really changed, I have owned better, this one really seems to be lacking quality. I still enjoy driving this vehicle, but will continue to monitor it for workmanship, and expense of ownership.

2007 Jeep Patriot 4x4 Sport 2.4 liter

Summary:

I don't regret the purchase

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong, but I have only owned it for 3 months.

General Comments:

Gives you that big sport utility feel, but is very fuel efficient.

Great styling!

Ride is exceptionally smooth and quiet.

Would not recommend the automatic. CVT makes the vehicle seem sluggish. The 5 speed manual is smooth and gives the car better fuel mileage plus quicker acceleration.

Cabin is very comfortable, however, cheaper materials are used. These hard plastics tend to nick and scratch fairly easily.

If you looking for the ability to go off-road, but keep fuel consumption reasonable, this is your vehicle. Highly recommended!

You're out of your mind regarding off roading in this car. The ground clearance is equal to most sedans. This first time I drove my Patriot in 4 inches of snow the wheel wells got jammed with snow and the resulting vibration limited speed to 30mph even on cleared highways. As you can tell I'm still on the fence about my purchase.
