2002 Jeep TJ Sport 4.0
Summary:
Good for the daily driver and the weekend warrior
Faults:
At around 75000 the rear wiper motor went out... mud. My bad. Eh, who needs it anyway?
80000: 2nd gear grinds a time or two, worried it's the synchros. Changed fluid, shifts fine and has since (do change about 15000 miles or so now just to be safe)
110000: Ring gear lost some teeth... my bad again. Should have washed better after playing, mud ate the axle seals. 150 bucks for a used third member drum to drum, not too bad I thought.
130000: Radiator needed to be replaced. They weren't thinking too clearly when they made the top and bottoms of them out of plastic. Found a used all metal one for $75.
150000: Factory CD player called it quits. Don't know how many 1000's upon 1000's of hours it did work though.
General Comments:
Good low end torque. A bit lacking in high end. But what do you expect out of a vehicle designed to go off road where the low end is more useful anyhow?
Handles really well on road with very little body roll.
Off road... duh.
It is a little cramped at times with passengers and gear.
Hard top is quiet. Easy on and off... Don't know if can say that when I'm 50+. I'm 27 now.
Paint has held up well despite the scratches in the clear coat. Fender flares and top have faded some.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

"Don't know if can say that when I'm 50+."
You make it sound like 50+ is the end of the world.
Let me say this - I am 50+ and I drive my 5 speed Wrangler everyday. I could take the hardtop off if I wanted to, but I guess at my age I might catch a really bad chill, huh? :)
