1994 Jeep Wrangler S unsure

Summary:

Fun and easy to drive, better to own!

Faults:

Very little. I have replaced the fuel filter, headlights and spreader bars since I bought the vehicle. The vinyl seats have started to split. Nothing out of the ordinary for an 8 year old vehicle.

General Comments:

I very much enjoy driving this Jeep. Steering is easy, parking is easier and driving is fun! I have driven several cars including a Mustang and nothing compares to the Wrangler. Everyone talks about the uncomfortable ride - but it's supposed to be an off-road vehicle! The ride isn't supposed to be nice! The only problem I've ever had is sticking to the seats in very hot weather - something easily remedied by buying seat covers!

1994 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4.0L

Summary:

A versatile classic

Faults:

I have not done anything other than routine maintenance on this vehicle. Since new I've replaced the battery twice, brake pads all around, and am on my second set of tires, and replaced the soft top after 60,000 miles. I use Mobil 1 synthetic oil and do oil/lube every 5000 miles. Every 20,000 miles I use Slick 50 additive. My dealer is amazed at the condition of this vehicle. Barring a collision or other incident, I expect this vehicle to turn 250,000 miles! I'm running 30x9.5 Bridge stones and have installed a 1" body lift to accommodate the larger tires. Anything bigger would require a suspension lift.

General Comments:

If buying a new Jeep, definately get the 4.0L engine and air conditioning. I would also suggest the hardtop, as the noise from the soft top can be overwhelming at highway speeds. For an SUV, the Jeep is outstanding, although some sacrifice is made in regard to comfort. Handling is first rate on road and off. I passed a Ferrari in a 180 degree banked highway offramp. Talk about a surprised look on his face!

Well, I'm still driving it and it hasn't rolled yet. In fact - I took your advice and bought a Porsche in 2004 - and I'm still passing the Ferrari drivers! I guess it's all about skill behind the wheel...

1994 Jeep Wrangler S 2.5

Summary:

30 something youth formula!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with my jeep, I service it regularly myself.

General Comments:

I have made several grueling drives from Louisiana, back home to Tennessee.

The 2.5 liter 4 cylinder is adequate, however I do run 31 inch tires and keeping a descent highway speed is a challenge!

I have owned several jeeps and broncos, and by far this is the most reliable vehicle I have owned.

1994 Jeep Wrangler S 2.5L

Summary:

Goes anywhere, but it takes its time

Faults:

I have had a brake caliper seize after a thorough beating off road. I also blew the clutch after a stick floated its way into the clutch fingers.

General Comments:

It goes anywhere stock. It is so easy to modify, and now mine is certainly a well built reliable trail rig for an overall cost of less than 10,000.

1994 Jeep Wrangler SE 4 cylinder

Summary:

An exciting car to own and drive

Faults:

Clutch pedal swing became rough at 15,000 and the clutch and hydraulic cylinder were replaced under warranty.

Catalytic converter shattered at 30,000 and was replaced under warranty.

Wiring connection to crankshaft pickup sensor melted (causing complete engine failure on a trip) and was replaced by the dealer.

Rear axle bearing seized at 102,000, thus the entire axle was rebuilt with new bearings by a transmission specialist.

Gas tank (20 gallon) warped and caused strain on the fuel pump and resulted in fuel pump failure. The fuel pump and gasoline tank were replaced at 118,000 miles.

Steering wheel canceling cam failed.. replaced at 121,000.

General Comments:

Sure, I have had my share of reasonable problems to deal with on my Wrangler, but I still look forward every evening to driving home from work... that says it all. The car looks and drives like new with over 120,000 miles now. I intend to keep it to at least 200,000. And yes, I will buy another.

My '93 Jeep Wrangler "S" has a rattling clutch pedal at certain RPM. I have had a number of clutch problems with this vehicle. I have 160k on it now, but have had this clutch less than a year. Original lasted 10 years am now on my 3rd slave cylinder. Any ideas??

Thanks for this service.
