Faults:

I had only 2 minor problems that I was able to repair myself. My radiator needed to be replaced, probably because the previous owner failed to flush the coolant at regular intervals. (This happened at 80,000 miles) It caused an overheating problem, but took very little effort and cost to repair and it now runs like new again!

The other issue was the exhaust. No problem, your exhaust system will eventually rust and go bad so I replaced it myself for under $300. Other than those two things, it runs like it's brand new!

General Comments:

Very reliable, low cost to maintain!

Best convertible you can buy; doors and top can be removed for a very "close to nature" experience!

"Cute" and rugged looks at the same time!

Excellent 4X4, handles well on and off-road.

Has a bumpy ride on road, but that's what I like!

Very safe in the snow and on slippery surfaces as well as dry surfaces.

Very reliable motor and powertrain, haven't had any problems at all with it and almost turning over 100,000 miles!

4 cylinder is very reliable and is serving my purposes well, but most people may need a little more pep for highway acceleration, but it is truely not bad at all, it has good power!

It doesn't ride like a car at all, so if you couldn't take the bumpy ride, then the Jeep Wrangler YJ would not be for you, it has the historic, off-road like ride like the old CJ models. Lot's of articulation off-road and a slightly bumpy ride "on-road". Hey, I respect it for it's long history and what it's capable of doing, so you can't expect it to ride like a Cadillac!

Faults:

Believe it or not... absolutely nothing.

General Comments:

It handles great whether through the city, on the highway, or even out in the mountain terrain.

The four wheel drive system is very easy to use.

Faults:

Exhaust manifold was cracked.

Heater fan resistor.

Thermostat.

General Comments:

I recently purchased a very clean Wrangler YJ with 91,000 miles on the odometer. The vehicle was very well equipped; hard top, air conditioning, tilt wheel, sound bar, splash graphics etc. I was amazed at how well the interior and exterior had held up over seven years. The interior appears absolutely brand new. Showing no wear whatsoever. The paint is glossy and show no signs of cracking or peeling.

Mechanically the vehicle appears to have been well maintained. Starting and running like new. My Wrangler is a fun ride, with my only complaints being the creaks and rattles within the interior. But hey, this is a Jeep!

To me, the Wrangler is a very well made, tough vehicle, which should never be confused with a luxury ride. It can go places most other vehicles can't, and it can brave the toughest of driving conditions. The six cylinder engine has plenty of power, and I enjoy the five-speed transmission coupled with the 4 liter. It's a fun combo.

People should go into buying a Jeep knowing what it is. It's not a four-wheel-drive Camry, nor a Miata.

Owning a Jeep can be a great experience.
