2001 Jeep Wrangler TJ 4.0 liter
Summary:
LOVE it!
Faults:
I had to replace the frame in 2014 (yes I realize people think I'm nuts for doing that). Apparently frame rusting out is fairly common in Jeeps. I also had trouble with the heater/AC fan knob not working, but that was easily fixed.
General Comments:
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Wrangler. I ordered it from the factory, built the way I wanted with dual tops, full doors, 30 inch tires, and no ABS brakes. I swore I would always own a Wrangler after driving it a short time. I just wish they would do a retro model (anniversary model) because I really don't care for the new ones.
I'm pretty manic about doing all the maintenance on it at the designated times, and am still on the first clutch, no leaks of fluids. I had a few problems with windshield leaks after replacing it both times, but they solved it both times. I have driven this as many as 17 hours straight (OK I did stop for gas and potty breaks), and found it more comfortable to drive than cars I've owned (I will say that my main problem has always been my hips, and the seats in a Wrangler sit up high keeping pressure off the hips, so this isn't true for most people).
The MPG may suck, but I knew that going into it (hello, read the sticker) so why complain about it.
I've done a few cosmetic mods to it (extended fender flares, recessed wheels, black diamond plate accents, new stereo and speakers, running boards, etc).
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

These vehicles are better suited as weekend "toys" rather then everyday drivers. I believe if you'd owned an older Wrangler (1995 or older), you wouldn't have had nearly as many problems because the older ones were simpler.. the newer Jeeps are over-engineered and too complex now in my opinion. They should have just KEPT it low-tech, and they would still have sold just as many of them.
