2002 Kia Sedona LX 3.5L

Summary:

DO NOT BUY! Unless you're playing a practical joke!

Faults:

Complete brake system $1200, alternator $600, battery $90, antifreeze line $250, motor mounts $600 each, engine light stays on because of O2 sensors $800 to fix, extremely poor gas mileage.

That's where Kia makes their money, selling you overpriced cheap parts. Beware of cheap vehicles, because you will get what you pay for!

2002 Kia Sedona EX 3.5

Summary:

I really like this car

Faults:

Cutting off unexpectedly.

General Comments:

Ignition coils were my problem, changed all 3, runs better than before, with no complaints. Thought it was a fuel issue, but it was not (saved a great deal of money), ignition coils should be checked...

2002 Kia Sedona EX 6 cylinder

Summary:

A great car for a person with a large family

Faults:

A/c compressor let go at 61,000 miles, and warranty ended at 60,000.

General Comments:

I have no major complaints, the van runs well. I drove it to Canada twice and West Virginia twice, and the vehicle never game me a problem. There were several recalls that I was notified of, and they were rectified forthwith.

The only major issue I have is the air bag light that keeps coming on. I brought the vehicle back to them, and they stated that it was due to a passenger seat belt, so they replaced it. But it is doing it again, and now they state it is not covered under warranty, so I have to pay out of pocket.

The same thing with my A/C; I complained that my A/C was not working properly, and they stated they fixed it, which it appeared they did, then it stopped working again, and now it is no longer under warranty.

Overall, the car is a good car, but the service can use improvement.

I would also comment on another review in regards to dealer prices. Just like anything you buy in this world, prices are different depending on demand. Overall if the price is too deep, go somewhere else and buy it, I do.

2002 Kia Sedona EX

Summary:

It sucks.. do not recommend to my worst enemy!

Faults:

A/C problems from the start. Like clogged, noisy, not working.

Seat belts replaced.

The rear bumper faded.

Paint faded.

Automatic windows replaced.

Radio replaced twice.

ETC...

General Comments:

I think we got a lemon, but the dealership would deny and sometimes would not make notes in the system when we would take it back for A/C problems.

While buying the car everyone was nice, helpful, and willing to answer questions, but once we bought it, service went from 110% to -110%. Nobody wanted to help and no more smiles.

The car A/C has sounded like it is clogged, and if driving on a road trip and over a certain speed, it stops working and blows out fan air... if you are lucky. Makes noises, brakes squeak, radio has been replaced and still the pre-set buttons do not work.

The front A/C only works if the rear A/C is on.

In other words... you get what you pay for, and I don't recommend this car.. not even to my worst enemy. Don't waste your time or money...

2002 Kia Sedona LX V6

Summary:

Reliable and comfortable family transportation.

Faults:

Master lock sensor relay died at about 45,000 miles. The symptom was that when I unlocked the door from the passenger side, all the doors automatically relocked.

Temp gauge on dashboard is unreliable. Shows the engine is overheating when it isn't. Just had my mechanic recalibrate the gauge, so we'll see how that goes.

Alternator/Battery needed replacement. Known issue with this model of Kia.

General Comments:

This is the car in our family that just always works. We've taken it on family vacations and commuted into Boston. It has survived trips to the beach and unpaved roads. It performs well in the rain, on the highway, with 5 grown adults (work carpool).

I have 4 teenagers now. The youngest was 6 when we purchased the Kia. In 2 years, he'll probably learn to drive on it as the other 3 did. The boys are both 6 feet tall and they can still fit into the van without too much difficulty. If they were much taller, the van wouldn't work for us, however. I'm only 5 foot 4 inches and it's the most comfortable car for me to drive.

I just figured out that in the past 7 years, maintenance has only cost me about 9 cents a mile.
