2004 Kia Sedona LX

Summary:

I like my Kia Sedona

Faults:

I have a 2004 Kia Sedona and so far my A/C compressor blew up, but the warranty changed at no cost.

Main point any car will brake if you don't do your basic services on time, I have seen Mercedes, Jaguar, BMW on the side of the road waiting for a town truck, a car is a machine no matter how much you pay for it, sooner or later it will break.

Have the oil change, filters change, air pressure checked before long distance travel, brakes inspected every 6 months, transmission oil change every 30,000 miles.

Don't go to the dealers for these basic services, they'll take an arm and a leg for these "do it your self at home" services. Find out around your neighborhood, and you'll see how many mechanics lived around you and will do this service even for free, of course only if you were a nice neighbor to them.

Don't go to the dealer? Well, that's what I did, I went to other place, to save, but at the end, I paid more, frustration and wasted time. I'm sure from the bottom of my heart.

2004 Kia Sedona EX

Summary:

I will not for any reason recommend this car to anyone or buy another one myself!

Faults:

Brakes have made a terrible sound since 20,000 miles. The service dept. replaced rotors under warranty first time and have had brake pads replaced numerous times. It is extremely embarrassing to drop my kids off at school when you know there is truly nothing wrong with the car except the noise.

The parts for the sliding door have had to be replaced.

Sliding door wearing paint.

Plastic around drivers seat broken...

Also was offered the extended warranty with free oil changes. I thought it would be a good thing and when I recieved the book in the mail, there was a big amount of only 8 free oil changes and the value to cancel it went from the original 2000 to 500...so ask?'s.

General Comments:

This car has held up to this point, however the warranty will run out very soon. I would have bought a newer long before now, but I am wanting to get out of debt. The brakes are my biggest gripe! But it's a big one.

2004 Kia Sedona LX V6

Summary:

Horrible Design!!!

Faults:

Brakes, driver door fell off, front mount brackets replaced TWICE, tires. There are several other things. I called KIA and they said they made the front end too heavy for the frame so expect lots of problems. Well we have!!!

General Comments:

The design and make and generally everything about it is not set up well.

2004 Kia Sedona EX

Summary:

Will never buy one again and will go out of my way to convince others not to.

Faults:

Transmission--had to be replaced (with a remanufactured transmission and has never run the same since) around 45k miles. at least it was covered by the warranty.

Brakes--Left front wheel bearing, left front axle, hub assembly--89k miles, my $650.00.

Fuel system--Fuel pump shorted internally; fuel pump replaced (45k miles) --warranty covered.

Engine--Worn engine mounts said to be cause of shuddering at 45 mph and above, cost me $400, "fixed" but still having problems.

In general...

Lots of brake work, seat belt malfunctioned in middle row capt. chair had to be replaced; passenger door handle broke (cost was est. around $300, husband fixed for $5); plastic hinge covers on capt. chairs in mid row broken... nothing covered under warranty, obviously.

General Comments:

I loved the car until I had to have the transmission replaced. It never ran the same again. I'm now dealing with issues following the front-axle-twisting-into-the-hub problem. I've paid it off, but it seems like I'm still making payments, 2 months' worth following my pay-off, in fact.

I too am having transmission issues (torque converter) at only 37,000 kms. Warranty will not cover it even tho I brought it in initially before the warranty expired (in January of 2009... warranty expired in February and torque converter went in March.) It's a $1000 job.

I'll tell anyone who'll listen that I love my Kia but their service is atrocious and they do not honor their warranty. I would never buy another vehicle thru them based on this. Even tho having a good vehicle is necessary, I believe having strong service is even more necessary.
