2000 Kia Sephia

Summary:

A great deal for such a reliable sedan!

Faults:

I have not experienced any mechanical problems with the Sephia. The only problem that I have had was with the alignment of the tires. A special part had to be purchased from the dealer to have this correctly done. The part was in stock and the task was taken care of quickly. This is the only time that I have had to do business with the dealer to have actual work done to the vehicle. They were very helpful and expedited the work very well.

General Comments:

I highly recommend the 2000 Kia Sephia. I have taken it on road trips and drive it an hour to and from work daily. I have kept up the maintenance on it and have not had to worry at all about the reliability of this vehicle.

The car is very responsive in both acceleration and handling.

The seats are very comfortable.

The dashboard and instrument panels are very well laid out and easy to reach.

2000 Kia Sephia Base 1.8L DOHC

Summary:

Deathtrap

Faults:

The brakes failed completely after I had been driving the car for only eleven days.

The structural components of the bumper were too low to catch the bumper of the van that I hit, so the radiator was pushed back into the engine and the vehicle was totaled.

One speaker was out.

The engine temperature gage was dead.

The wiper fluid pump was out.

The cigarette lighter didn't work.

General Comments:

This was a very comfortable car, which I quite enjoyed until it tried to kill my family.

Handling was good, though not wonderful.

Mileage was pretty good, around 31.

2000 Kia Sephia LS 2.4 liter

Summary:

Car sucks

Faults:

At 340000 miles it needed tune up.

Same day it failed to start and then needed fuel pump.

Same day as the fuel pump it needed a new head.

Dealer put used head in and when I got it back same day started knocking again.

Also radio didn't work after being in the shop for a week.

After used head they put a new head on and it was still knocking so they had to put a new small block engine in it.

After new engine, started to have trouble with fuel injector.

After fuel injectors started clogging, had to have fuel lines flushed several times.

Check engine light still comes on occasionally, dealer told me not to worry about it unless it never goes back off.

Also right drivers window seal is broken.

Passengers side sun visor is broken.

Console is broken.

Had to have new brakes before 30,000 miles.

General Comments:

I will never own another kia in my lifetime and advise people not to buy from Kia.

Cheap cars good warranty, but you will need it because it will be in the shop all the time.

Summary:

Not worth it

Faults:

The headlights often go out when turning left.

The parking brake light stays on almost all of the time.

General Comments:

This car just feels cheap and unreliable.

It vibrates and does not drive smoothly at all.

This is not a good car for highway driving.

It does not get up to speed quickly.

It just feels downright scary to drive this car in the rain or snow. It handles very poorly.

The seats are pretty uncomfortable.

2000 Kia Sephia LS

Summary:

A reliable car for the price

Faults:

Locks would open and close automatically while driving.

Passenger window solenoid began to go around 25000 miles.

Muffler needed to be replaced.

General Comments:

I must say I have been very happy with the car. It has been reliable and only minimal problems have occurred.

My experience with the dealership and the service center have been pleasant. All of the issues with the car were repaired or replaced under warranty.

My only real issue has been the difficulty I have had in installing a car seat for a newborn/infant properly. The rear seat belts are not designed to go easily with any of the new model car seats.
