1992 Lexus SC 300 V6
Summary:
Great sporty car that looks good even 25+ years later
Faults:
132600 - the wipers' motors needed to be replaced - was done by a mechanic, total cost $300.
145,670 - new battery to replace the smaller and weaker battery - $250.
161180 - The trunk struts have finally quit on me and need replacing; that will happen this weekend.
The paint is not great and is not as good as the German cars I have owned in the past.
General Comments:
I owned a Mercedes for 9 years and put 350,000 miles on that car. Wonderful car and I thought it was great; well I can tell you I am blown away by the Lexus. I was starting high school when I saw the ad for this car on TV. Beautiful and different then, and it still is today.
So far she is ultra reliable, the A/C blows cold and the heat works no problem. She starts up every time no matter the weather. Really fast and nimble, and I am not a sports car aggressive type driver, but this car can go fast and likes it.
The seats are very comfortable and plush. Butter soft leather is correct; of course that soft leather does not wear well and my seats have developed a small tear on the passenger side and a larger one on the driver's side. The heated seats work great, especially in winter. The sun roof works flawlessly and the power windows work seamlessly as well. As Mike Brewer would say, all the electrics work. I love this car, it's reliable and drives great. She is quiet on the highway and smooth.
If you see one that hasn't been modified or in good condition, pick it up, they are great cars. Fast and a very nice ride. Reliable, but what did I expect, it is after all a Toyota and I am happy as punch. I am on the hunt for the SC400, the V8 version.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
