Faults:

I replaced the air suspension for tight springs for a sportier ride.

The catalytic converter was replaced.

New air conditioner fan and electrical work for it was done.

New engine mount installed.

New ball joints, bushings, sway bars.

I had the passenger side door handle replaced.

I replaced interior light bulb in the doors and dash board.

For upgrade and age issues, I replaced my premium radio with cassette for a Compact Disk Radio.

Since the original speakers were 18 years old, I replaced them with three and four way Pioneer speakers.

I had to get the brake light adjusted for faster response.

The window motors for the passenger side front and rear were replaced.

General Comments:

I would agree with one of the writers who wrote that this car is one that will take car of you if you take care of it.

What I love about this car is that the body is elegant and classy, yet under the hood sits a mean mustang like engine that embarrasses little show-off rice burner car that mistake it for a big slow taxi.

I know that I find this car very comfortable, but when I loan it out to friends, they come back and tell me how surprised they were to find how comfortable it made them as well.

My favorite feature is the computerized dash board and the lay- out. My new hide-away radio marries the dash board, especially when the car is turned off.

Faults:

Alternator.

Power steering pump.

Smog pump.

Water pump.

Rack and pinion steering unit (3 times)

Air ride air bags.

Air pump.

Power windows.

Anti-lock brakes.

Electric trunk pull-down.

Digital instrument panel (4 times)

Universal joints.

Rubber bushings.

Other items which I may have forgotten.

General Comments:

The list of parts which I have replaced seems long, but considering the number of miles which I have put on the car, it isn't so bad. I purchased the car at a point in its life which most people would have considered it worn out, and I have gone on to put more miles on it than most cars go in their lifetimes.

This car has "adequate" power. Not too much, not too little. The engine has not been apart, and it still gets about 1000 miles to a quart of oil. I was told by a transmission shop that I needed a rebuild (all I wanted was a leak fixed -- I finally fixed it myself!) over 120000 miles ago -- he said it was ready to fail right then and there. I didn't have it rebuilt, and it shifts fine to this day. The gas mileage is pretty good for a mid-sized car -- about 20 mpg.

I have certainly gotten my money's worth out of this car.

Faults:

I replaced the power steering fluid pump at 185,000 miles. There was a minor problem with the reading lights in the back seat remaining on, but the problem seemed to solve itself.

General Comments:

This car has been amazingly reliable. It is pushing 200,000 miles and it still going strong.

Even with the original engine and having so many miles the car uses almost no oil, and other than regular maintenance has had no real problems. The interior (cloth) and paint have held up really well despite constant use and having never been garaged.

I am the second owner, and this is my second continental. I am a teenager and received a lot of grief when buying this car, but in the 2 years I have had it 3 of my closest friends have bought Lincoln's because they loved my car so much.

This car has a perfect amount of power. I can outrun sports cars, and quite frequently do. Anyone who brags how this "granny car" cannot hold its own will be in for a rude awakening.

My Continental has grown on me so much and I have become very attached to it. Even after buying a newer car with fewer miles for college, I cannot bring myself to part with my Lincoln. I would recommend this car to anyone looking to love his or her car.
