2000 Lincoln LS V8 Sport V8

Summary:

It's a great looking car, but not built for time, this car will nickle and dime you

Faults:

Replaced 4 coil packs.

Transmission stalled and a spring needed to be replaced.

Airbag spring is out, which means the driver's airbag will not deploy.

Stereo malfunctioning.

Thermostat went out.

Hydraulic cooling fan is not cooling the engine fast enough, causing the engine to overheat.

The trunk compartment hatch detached and does not function.

Constant condensation in fog lamps.

The chrome from the rims have peeled, allowing constant air to leak from 2 tires.

General Comments:

When there are no problems with the car, it has good power and handles extremely well. The stereo system inside the car is the best I've ever owned, including BMW's. The best part is the curb appeal. The car looks sharp day or night.

For the first three years I had few problems. However, once the car hit 90K miles the American craftsmanship showed. I have spent $6,000 on repairing this car in the past 18 months, and another $4,500 would be needed to get it to performing as it should.

Lincoln dealers suck. The two I've dealt with never complete work when they say they will, and never solve the problem the first time. Lexus, Audi, and BMW take much better care of their customers.

2000 Lincoln LS Sport V8

Summary:

Should have window regulator and valve cover recall!

Faults:

I've had all of typical problems --- replaced all of the window regulators (two of them twice). A/C thermostat has to be on 60 or hot air will sometimes blow---now sometimes hot air blows in the back seat while cold blows up front. Sometimes cold won't blow until car has been running about 2 minutes. I haven't spent the money to have it fixed because I don't think they will make the problem go away. Valve covers leaked oil onto coils and cost me 2K$----I was relieved that it wasn't the transmission. The engine light has been on and off intermittently for 3 years. I don't believe the Lincoln techs--it'll cost me $5K for them to find the real problem. I keep a stock of right rear brake lights. I've bought nothing, but Fords/Lincolns for 30 years--now I HAVE TO look at Japanese cars.

General Comments:

Runs well when it's not in the shop.

2000 Lincoln LS V8

Summary:

This is one of the best cars I have ever owned!!!

Faults:

The headlights fog up. The brakes were squeaky shortly after purchasing the car.

General Comments:

This is one of the best cars I have owned. It is very roomy with lots of bells and whistles. Does very well on long road trips. My Lincoln was driven from Texas to Washington state and did very well gas. The only complaint on this car is that the headlights get foggy in bad weather.

2000 Lincoln LS

Summary:

Piece of crap!!

Faults:

I have had our 2000 Lincoln LS for two years, and we have had the following problems:

Replaced all plugs and coils, valve gasket, CO2 sensor, all four window regulators, the fogged up headlights.

The newest problem is that the dealer is telling me I need to replace the catalytic converter in order to pass smog. Ridiculous! I hate this car.

I'm selling it ASAP!!! It's costing me a fortune!!!

2000 Lincoln LS 8 cylinder

Summary:

Don't buy one

Faults:

Well to all those who own a Lincoln LS…GET RID OF IT NOW!!! My wife and I purchased one about a year and a half ago. Then it happened the little man with the air bag kept flashing at us. Took it to the shop no one could figure what was going on with it. This would go in for weeks and then months. Then the window would make this noise like “gremlins” were climbing in there. Then it stopped working so I fixed it then I find out in time they will all fail. Well I fixed the driver side and low and behold the passenger side went out. Then the back windows started making this noise, well they still work for now. A year later and many worries we took it on a trip to California from Colorado. Half way there the engine light starts flashing, nothing new it flashed all the time in Colorado, but now it idle so rough I was afraid it would stop…here I am 800 miles away home and the car is acting crazy. Well to make a long story short came back found out the coils were about $80 bucks a pop, with 8 cylnders…no way. Went to the local dealership got rid of it end of story.
