2000 Lincoln LS

Summary:

Low quality construction and low grade components - My Ford Lincoln is a piece a junk

Faults:

My transmission blew at 104,000 km.

How is it that a vehicle that costs $50,000, and is considered to be a luxury car, blows the transmission 4,000 km after the warranty expires.

Answer - It's a Ford - quality is job 1.

The dealer did absolutely nothing for me.

Customer service did absolutely nothing for me.

I will never buy another Ford product.

General Comments:

In the time that I have owned this vehicle I have had nothing but problems.

This vehicle was purchased brand new from Ford.

I have never owned a vehicle that has had more recalls by the manufacturer.

Why and how does such an expensive car continually break down?

Answer - It's a Ford - Quality is job 1.

This vehicle should be named Car and Driver's #1 car for faulty components right from the manufacturer.

Well you did buy a first year model and there are bound to be bugs. Also my Lexus has been recalled 4 times in the two years I owned it. I would rather have a questionable part fixed than the company wait to my car blew up to say, "Hey we have a problem."

So all you listed was that the transmission blew. Sounds like an acura tl or a dodge problem too. But who knows, maybe you abused it? Or maybe you didn't break it in the right way during the break in period and it failed. You never know.

2000 Lincoln LS 3.9 liter V8

Summary:

Great looking car, great speed and handling- troublesome- Ford workers should be fired lousy quality

Faults:

Both rear window actuators broke, and needed to be replaced, I performed the work myself, cost $52.00/window.

New brake pads and rotors all around - performed the work myself - $310.00.

Heater broke - several attempts at dealer - I finally told them it was the aux heating pump - replaced for 210.00.

Front headlight lens fogged up.

Head gasket is bad - burnt oil smell in cabin during winter months when the climate control system is in operation.

Third brake light went out, very difficult to change and replace.

Noise in front end - clanking, refuse to get it fixed - I'm not a bank!

Replaced all eight coil packs at 98,000 miles, check engine light came on and car was running lousy - dealer told me cylinders 2 and 8 were misfiring - I could have told them that - cost for diag fee - $178.00, I bought coil packs on ebay for $163.00 for all eight, did work myself. Dealer wanted $1600.00 for job.

Alpine stereo and controls for the radio on steering wheel work sometimes, real pain at night.

Airbag warning light on - diag fee for that $75.00, to fix $310.00, I refused to have that done, now can't get the light off.

Seat backing on the driver's side is coming off, poor quality.

General Comments:

This car is awesome on the highway, very fast and handles like a dream, but poor quality and lousy service at the dealers. For a car of this price and what it's supposed to be competing against - BMW 5 series, it's not worth it.

General Comments:

Although this car looks great and has great pick up off the line. Once this car starts to go on you, it will nickle and dime you to death. If you can get out of it once this happens then do it, or your car will be in the gargare frequently. Love to drive it when it is WORKING CORRECTLY. To expensive for up keep.
