2000 Lincoln LS 3.9 V8

Summary:

Best car ever

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

I don't understand what everyone has against the '00 Lincoln LS. I've had my car for years, and it is running BEAUTIFULLY. All I have had to replace is the spark plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, and AC filter. Everyone ranting and raving about how bad the Lincoln LS is really should check how they drive it. It's not a race to get to your destination. I don't have any problems that everyone is claiming to have, but I drive carefully. So before anyone blames the car, blame how you drive it.

2000 Lincoln LS Sport 3.9 V8

Summary:

One of the best cars I have ever owned

Faults:

Unexpected maintenance: Window regulators and driver’s side airbag sensor at approximately 75,000 miles. Suspension components replacement somewhat high, but considering that the vehicle has a very sophisticated suspension and the poor road conditions in Texas; it shouldn’t come as a great big surprise.

Expected maintenance: 100,000 mile tune up, quite expensive when including coil packs and spark plugs. Reasonable maintenance costs; brakes, fuel filter, oil changes transmission services, cooling system flush and fills, belts and hoses.

Expected at current mileage, but hasn’t occurred as of yet and there are no indicators that is will; air conditioning, alternator, water pump and various ECU input sensors and other electrical component replacements.

General Comments:

The car has served us well, and is currently used for long distance driving only. It’s near 50/50 balance, SST transmission with optional tires and high performance chip make it a blast to drive in the mountains. For freeway driving, I am better off to use the cruise control to avoid certificates of achievement (speeding tickets). Too bad Lincoln decided to drop the model over improving on a great platform.

2000 Lincoln LS 3.9 liter V8 32 valve DOHC

Summary:

Although it has minor problems, THE CAR IS AWESOME!

Faults:

Valve covers need to be replaced.

Back window off track; will go up, but not down.

Coils replaced.

General Comments:

The car is sleek and looks great, is responsive and handles great, and is very fast.

When the valve covers go, oil leaks out and runs down into the spark plugs, which shorts out the coil... (after market coils for the car cost $35.00 each)

Don't let these mechanics rob you guys. The car requires a lot of maintenance, and you should only have the car if you have the extra money to spend keeping up with the problems.

I called the dealership, and asked them about the coils and the valve covers; the guy said oh that's a huge job, big bucks... my buddy is a mechanic, he charged me 200 to change the valve cover gaskets.. coils replaced for a fair price; no more than 125 each.

The V8 midsize car is jam packed with nothing but gadgets... I love the ride and love the power... Never mind the pearl white with tinted windows helps... it's just one of those cars that requires a lot of care.

All these common problems made me think that Lincoln intentionally manufactures certain parts of the car to break down, so they can generate sales revenues in parts and servicing for the dealerships.

2000 Lincoln LS 3.8 liter V8

Summary:

Nice, but very expensive!

Faults:

I have had a lot of problems with this vehicle.

I had to replace all the coils, which was 1400.

I had to replace the alternator 3 or 4 times, battery twice, needed two new catalytic converters, two window regulators broke, airbag light is on, check engine light is on, and every time I get a new tire, you need to buy all new lug nuts.

Replaced the back light at least 3 times a year.

All new brakes and rotors.

Engine overheats sometimes. I think there is a leak in the hose.

General Comments:

Really nice car. Very fast, great looks, heated seats, leather doesn't really age at all. Still get complements.

My Lincoln LS was bought new in 2000. The problems you have experienced are identical to ours. Have you had problems with the exterior paint? We have.

Would I buy another Lincoln? Probably NOT... I am a strong supporter of Ford products, but not Lincoln.
