2000 Lincoln LS V6
Summary:
It was a pretty good car, looks great, and I am not disappointed that I bought it
Faults:
A brief description of some of the things that have gone wrong with this car in the 8 years I have owned it:
Lug nuts stripped and needed replaced.
CV joints went bad.
Rotors (at 45000 miles) replaced.
Air bag sensor went out.
Engine "misses".
Hard shifting between gears (sometimes).
Ball joint went bad.
Tie rod ends went bad.
Sounds like a diesel when it idles.
Rear end going out/howling sound from rear end.
Driver's side window regulator went out.
Rear window regulator is going out, but I put the child lock on and nobody is allowed to roll it down.
Sunroof doesn't always close like it should.
Rear view mirror looks like a lava lamp.
Antenna doesn't work, so I have to use the CD player all the time.
Key won't turn in the ignition (new ignition put in, and had the same problem three months later).
Auto setting on the AC doesn't work.
Sport shift is messed up... doesn't want to engage all the time.
Stabilizer bar bushings are bad, and front end makes a squeaky noise when I go over bumps.
Windshield wipers act up.
I am sure there are a few things I have forgotten, but this is a pretty accurate list. I have opted not to fix all of these things... but it is currently in the shop getting the ignition worked on (key won't turn), and while it is there, I am having them write up an estimate on replacing the ball joint, tie rod ends, and stabilizer bar bushings.
I love my car, but it is getting old, and I guess I will have to think about replacing it soon. I don't want to have a car payment again, though!
General Comments:
A great looking car, but when a car has a lot of bells and whistles on it, they all seem to go out at the same time, and they are expensive to fix. The suspension issues and engine issues are engineering problems, and in a "luxury" car, one should not have to deal with these types of problems.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

If you want proven reliability and low cost of ownership, try a Town Car.
