2001 Lincoln LS V8 Sport 3.9 liter V8
Summary:
Beautiful looking piece of junk!
Faults:
Water inside headlamp assembly at 5000 miles.
Rough idle and engine misfire at 6000 miles. Check engine light on. Took car to dealer, they stated problem was a bad coil wire on #8 cylinder. They replaced wire and plug and reset engine light.
Rough idle, misfire and check engine light on 1 day later. Took car back to dealer. After 12 days, I finally received an answer about the car. The engine had a burnt valve? on the #8 cylinder. Entire engine assembly replaced under warranty with a RE-MANUFACTURED motor. After a total of 29 days at the dealer, I received the car back.
The car now has 12000 miles on it and lacks the original power it had with the old engine before the valve problem.
The fuel economy has gone down approximately 3 mpg since the engine replacement.
The steering wheel shakes at 60 mph.
The dealer states they cannot duplicate the problem.
General Comments:
The car is a lease that expires in September of 2004 and that date cannot come soon enough.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

We had good luck with our 2001 LS for about 2 years and 50000 miles. Now, problems with the computer that controls the engine have the car in the dealership and parts simply are not available... Had wiring problems with the tail lights. same thing parts were simply not available. We will look to a simpler car next time..
