Faults:

First off, all of the parts I needed I found online real cheap...

The rear rotors were shot, so I replaced them, along with brake pads...

I needed to replace the windshield, cost $139+ tax.

New tires.

The air suspension was acting up. At first I thought it was the air bags. But before I ordered the part, I checked the compressor and dryer, turns out that was the problem... Found it on eBay for $130, while the dealer wanted $500+... Easy work to replace.

Window regulators went out... Winters coming so I'll just wait till summer to fix that.

General Comments:

Fast as hell, burns ricers all day. Parts are easy enough to find online. Reliable stylish tough luxurious ride. Definitely will be getting a 4.9L Mark VI next time. The ride is so fun!

Faults:

Power window right side; this was repaired by the dealer.

A/C leaks. It was fixed, but leaked again.

Alternator blew and I replaced it myself.

Water pump failed. It was replaced.

Transmission slips badly when cold.

Anti-lock brakes no longer work. The computer went bad.

The paint is now starting to fade due to sun exposure.

The leather wrapped steering wheel is deteriorated and leaking some disgusting black tar type substance when it gets hot inside the car.

Power antenna is no longer working.

General Comments:

This car has been in my family since it was new and really has been a real cream puff.

The car still looks very cool after all these years, and I agree, one of the best built cars in the mid 1980's. Remember this was a time when the auto industry (American) were building some real pieces of junk, most of which are no longer on the road. My car is not only still on the road, but it is my daily driver. It has a lot of parking lots dings and scratches, but this is a true survivor at 20 years old. The interior is outstanding.

This car has a super computer on board telling you all kinds of things about your fuel mileage, trips, speed, time, date, temp and direction. What other car had all of this in 1987?

These cars are really cheap right now, and most are excellent buys. The 5.0L High Output motors are outstanding if properly maintained. No motor problems with this car at all!!!

Does anyone know how to adjust the air suspension to give the car a more aggressive stance? The car sits a bit too high for my liking in normal mode. Also, what to do with the transmission?

Faults:

To date, all I have had to do is routine oil changes and maintenance.

So far I have only spent $800 in 2 years.

It needed a tire, a battery, 2 new rear calipers and pads, a radiator flush and cap.

General Comments:

I had always found the look of these cars interesting and had thought about buying one.

Since I don’t like front wheel drive and finding a choice of good, clean, used rear wheel drive cars was getting hard to find. My 97 Crown Victoria was getting boring and too hard to park, so I started looking around online.

To my surprise, a local dealer had a 1987 Lincoln Mark VII LSC; it was my favorite color dark blue, fully loaded, looked immaculate and only had 253K kilometers (157K miles). The dark blue interior, with perforated leather sport seats was like new. This was a northwest car with no rust or dents, and looked great aside from some stone chips on the cowl and windshield.

I made a deal that I could not believe and put this car on my MasterCard and walked out the door. I absolutely love this car, have been using it as a daily driver for the last 2 years, I got it for next to nothing and have put over 23,000 kilometers on it. This is really the perfect car for me, a good sized 2 door formal coupe; it actually handles, brakes better than most new cars and has great torque and power.

Why don’t all cars have 4 wheel disk brakes?

It runs almost 460 kilometers(285 miles), combined city/highway and over 600 kilometers on the highway (400 miles) on one tank of 90 octane gas and that’s around $70 at todays gas prices.

This is almost a 20 year old car, and it rides better than most new cars.

Speaking of ride, the air ride suspension can act up in cold weather so all I do is turn off the switch in the trunk and it stays inflated. When it finally does bugger up, I will replace the air bags, solenoids and compressor, all at once. There are several good choices online for parts, don’t bother with the dealer.

This is one classy well made car and I will hang on to it for as long as I can. This will be my daily driver as I have no choice now. My 97 Crown Victoria, 4.6 V8 with only 90K miles on it had a plastic intake manifold that failed due to a design flaw and the dealer wants over $1,000 to replace that. There was a class action suit but only up to 7 years, so I have to pay for this myself. You can get a properly designed 3rd party intake with an aluminum coolant crossover online for under $200.

I was thinking about buying a new Mustang, but I will think twice about any new Ford product now, with the price gouge of replacement parts. Why wouldn’t a plastic intake manifold be designed with metal reinforced coolant passages in the first place? Too bad Ford can't build cars like they used to 20 years ago.

If you can find a good clean low mileage LSC, go for it.

Faults:

New alternator.

Tachometer does not work when the lights are turned on.

Starter was replaced twice.

Water pump was replaced.

Power steering hose blew.

General Comments:

When it runs it is awesome.

A lot of power under the hood.

A nice high powered thunder bird.

Cammed for power to beat a 5.0 mustang in the quarter mile.

Faults:

Ignition control module failed.

Front air suspension leaked.

Alternator failed.

Power steering pump is failing.

General Comments:

The car is really a luxurious Mustang.

It rides as if you were floating on air.

Love the fact that you can do the same mods as a Mustang.

I love the way it dusts those rice burners!
