General Comments:
Well, it's big. Yeah, it's not small. People are drawn to this thing and I'm not quite sure why. When I had the S55 AMG nobody gave a rat's fanny. This overstuffed Expedition? Neighbors are coming up to ask about it, kids want to ride in it, people I work with love the thing. I mean, it's nice and I like it, but I just don't understand the appeal. It's heavy, slow ponderous and big (did I say it was big?). It swills gas to the tune of 13 MPG in light mixed driving, and sometimes cracks 16 MPG on the freeway if you're REALLY nice to it.
On the upside, it is very comfortable, quiet and smooth. There is room for eight butts and a lot of stuff behind the 3rd row of seats. Long distances are smooth sailing. I like the heated and cooled seats, no more swampy behind on hot days. The engine and transmission are out of an F150 so there are tons of cheap parts available and just about anyone can work on the important parts. The running boards and rear air suspension are known problems, but there are fixes for those. Mainly, grease the running board hinges regularly and replace the rear air suspension with coilovers when the warranty is up.
It's a challenge to fit it into a garage, but with the cameras and sensors, it's not terrible. Visibility on the highway is surprisingly good when moving through traffic thanks to plenty of glass and good mirrors with convex inserts. I don't feel that even though it's huge, that there are any blind spots that cause me grief.
It would be nice if it had adaptive cruise control and a few other goodies, but it was also MUCH cheaper than a comparable Escalade. I'm all about value and pound for pound, you definitely get your money's worth with this bruiser.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
