Faults:

Right speaker blew out.

General Comments:

Wow. What a beautiful and elegant vehicle. It drove very smoothly, softly, peacefully, riding on a sheet of glass. It did take its time to move up the highway, but speeds down it effortlessly.

Loved the digital dash, great features. Excellent handling. Alright gas mileage. Neat brakes. Very comfortable ride.

Sadly, I got into an accident with this wonderful car. Going a good 30-35mph into this HUGE 6 ton looking truck, who decided to make an illegal action that caused me to burn rubber. Only to crash into him. Luckily, I had not one scratch on me, and the car still looked great. Saved my life. Had it been some coupe, or Mini, I would have left this life against that tank.

Now I have an 88 Lincoln Town Car. Can't stop loving em!

Faults:

Nothing other than routine maintenance. I think it needs a new choke, however.

General Comments:

It is very comfortable, with white leather interior and power seats, and floats down the road.

It is not a fast car, but that's what happens when you get an old boat like this.

Faults:

New water pump.

Valve cover gaskets.

Hood supports.

Brake and gas lines and tank.

Car has just begun to rust, but it IS 21 years old!

General Comments:

We Love our Lincoln. We still get many great comments on our car, generally people say "They just don't make them like this any more do they?"

Or they say "What a great car, I love it"

Or they say "I can't believe you're STILL driving that car!"

This Lincoln has been the most reliable car we've ever owned.

It has been the cheapest to maintain, and I tease all my friends that they have made payments on three different cars while I've had this one paid off for so long that the extra money on gas is a non-issue.

We call it the Boat. And it feels like one. It rides so smooth we don't feel a thing.

Recently we went looking for a second car to replace our truck, and the salesman was saying "this new car has heated mirrors", like this was a big deal, I laughed and said our 1985 car has heated mirrors, so what's the big deal about that??

When the car dealer said they would send our old car to "car heaven" we were offended and left.

Our old boat just won't die. My husband promised me a new car when the old boat dies, but the old boat won't die!!! And to be truthful, I told him I don't want to die before the car does!

Faults:

Alternator - just $36 (rebuilt) at the local parts store.

Starter - $50.

General Comments:

I needed a cheap family car, and a friend offered me his rusty old Town Car for $350. It turned out to be one of the best buys we ever made.

The engine is strong and smooth. It guzzles gas in town, but does a steady 20-22 MPG on the highway. The tires needed to be replaced shortly after I bought it, but I knew that was going to happen.

I'm not a fan of big cars, but the Town Car was a fine ride. Problems were few, and standard Ford Crown Vic/LTD parts at cheap prices solved the few problems that we had. A slipping transmission was cured with Slick 50 tranny additive.

The Town Car finally rusted to the point where it's time to get rid of it. If you're looking for a cheap cruiser, this is an excellent choice. This old tub was way better than our very undependable Windstar.
