Faults:

I have bought the Lincoln Town Car with 150,000 and it was like new and nothing has gone wrong with it and it now has 170,000 and it rides perfect and the transmition shifts smoothly like it would when it was new.

General Comments:

This car is a very attractive car. Very reliable and safe. I had almost totaled an Audi with my Town Car this year and there was only cracked paint on my front bumper. One thing you will notice is that you never feel the road through the steering wheel with a Town Car. My Town Car is black with black windows and chrome pillar posts and chrome wheels. I notice that every one stares at it and acts as if they are afraid of black Lincolns with black windows. In a lot a movies mofia guys drive black Lincoln Town Cars maybe that's why.

Faults:

For the time that I have owned this car (through the present), I can honestly say that absolutely nothing has gone wrong with it. I have had very good experiences with Lincoln Town Cars over the years, and I am a repeat buyer. In general, Town Cars are very well built and rather reliable, and this 1998 redesigned model is no exception.

General Comments:

Lincoln Town Cars are famous for their luxury appointments, floaty cloud-like ride, and extreme comfort, and the 1998 Signature Series is one of the better designs for the breed.

Interior appointments are very elegant, from the supple leather seating to the very accurate climate control system. You are wrapped in luxury, and unlike earlier, more "stodgy" traditional Town Car interiors, this interior has been greatly updated to modern times with cleaner lines and controls throughout.

While not as quick as some of it's major competitors, such as the Cadillac DeVille with the Northstar Engine, it is still quite quick for a car in it's class. The 4.7L V8 engine puts out a nice 220 HP under the hood - not able to compare to the Cadillac's 300 HP, but certainly enough to be comfortable driving through traffic and climbing hills.

The newly designed steering mechanism is also much more accurate, and has lost a lot of that "mushy" feel and responsiveness of the older models. I also own a 1997, which was the last year of the great "boxy" design, and the steering always felt a bit "mushy" and the car tended to drift. Not so in the new design - much tighter and more accurate.

Another nice feature is the fact that the Town Car designers finally decided to move all of the cumbersome bulky seating controls off of the door arm rests, and integrated the controls into nice "seat-shaped" multi-function slider controls located on the upper panels of the doors. These are much easier to access, and the markings make them so much easier to use.

Finally, the front grille and the rear of the car's body have been brought into the 21'st century, with curvy, sexy lines and more aerodynamic styling. It's about time - and the result is very elegant and refined.

Faults:

I bought this car used from a local car dealership and have done nothing except change the oil every 3k. I only paid 8 grand for the car, I am 19 years old, wanted a luxury car for a decent price. I feel in love with this car, it is the most reliable car I could have bought.

General Comments:

This car rides very nice, the inside room is great, the trunk is huge. I have only had 2 things happen to the car, but they are not its fault! The first was the day I got it I parked it behind my mothers truck, and she did not see it and backed into it, which really made me mad, but she got it fixed later that week. and the other time was I got rear ended at 70 MPH!! and drove the car across the bridge I got rear ended on without it even shutting off! This is a very solid car, which I will defently buy again. I made the mistake of selling the car and buying a 2001 Cadillac Deville. the Deville has been in the shop more than I have driven it! I am selling the Deville and leaving GM, going back to Ford, because they have pulled ahead of GM. Buy a FORD!
