1992 Mazda B2600 SE5 2.6L

Summary:

I wish they made them again... Great trucks

Faults:

I had to change the water pump at 124000 miles.

General Comments:

This is my second Mazda truck.

My first one was a B2200 automatic that I bought for 412 dollars. I put 60000 miles on it in 4 years, and sold it because I thought I didn't need it. After I sold it, I realized how much I missed my little truck, and I searched for another one.

Now I have a B2600i that I got for 600. I love the truck, everything is just like my B2200, and I LOVE IT. I will never get rid of this truck.

Great GAS mileage..

1992 Mazda B2600 SE-5 2.6L fuel injected 12V I-4

Summary:

A very high quality, reliable truck that will not let you down!!!

Faults:

Replaced radiator.

A loose power steering belt and alternator belt (both were unrelated, and happened at different times, and were both tightened in less than 20 minutes).

Replaced brakes.

Replaced tires.

Did a tune-up.

Replaced battery.

Replaced fan clutch.

A/C Freon leaks a little, but not enough to make a big deal about.

Replaced thermostat.

General Comments:

This truck is GREAT for anyone who is looking for a reliable little work truck.

It runs just like the sweetest little sewing machine around town, but when you need some power, IT WILL SURE SCOOT!!!

It runs and rides really smooth, but has a sporty feel to it.

It may sound like I have had a lot of parts replaced on it, but most of these items are just normal wear & tear items. Plus most of these parts that were replaced were original factory parts.

It NEVER fails to start even on the coldest day of the year!!! (which in Texas is 32 degrees in February-March) It's a good idea to let it warm up on a cold day.

I love the build quality. Everything is soft to the touch, and has nice rich textures. Not to mention, the doors feel really solid when you close them, and when you open them from the inside, they have this "vacuum-packed" sound to them.

I love this truck, and would recommend it to anybody looking for a simple little workhorse on a budget!!!

I will definitely be buying another Mazda when this one gives out!!!

1992 Mazda B2600 i SE-5 2.6L I-4

Summary:

A good dependable truck

Faults:

I haven't had too many issues with this truck.

I replaced the radiator due to a cracked plastic tank. I found an all metal radiator.

I put a new clutch in it.

I replaced the clutch master & slave cylinders twice. The second one I bought from the dealer. No more Chinese junk after market parts for me.

I did a full brake job & installed new bearings front & rear.

The truck seems to go through plug wires, caps & rotors every year.

The body sits low & over sized tires will rub the front fenders when you hit bumps. I put a 2" body lift on it. The truck looks a lot better & the tires don't rub anymore.

General Comments:

I was looking for another S-10 when I found this Mazda for 1800 bucks. With only 82000 miles on it & it being in very good over all condition, I snapped it right up.

Six years & 44000 miles later it still runs great & looks good. I use it as a truck. I haul loads & pull trailers with it.

I have driven it on long out of state trips & I drive it to work most days (my 89 Jeep YJ the other days). I would highly recommend buying one.

1992 Mazda B2600 1.6

Summary:

Been a very reliable car

Faults:

Replaced muffler and tail pipe @ 165K.

Replaced clutch slave and master cylinder @ 190K.

Replaced fuel pump @ 202K.

Replaced A/C belt and other belts every 3K-5K.

General Comments:

I have loved my B2600i since I bought it as a demo from the dealer lot in 1992. Engine-wise, it's been great... everything original and no engine problems to speak of, except routine maintenance, oil changes, 2 brake jobs, tune ups, etc.. A/C runs, except on #1 fan speed. However, now that it's passed 200,000 miles, I need a new radiator (crack on top, near left-side corner) and new exhaust system.

The last repair job last month was getting a front end alignment ($60) and replacing the fuel pump ($400). Is this car worth continuing to repair or having a transmission overhaul when the time comes? Every time I take it to the mechanic, it seems I spend anywhere from $100-$350 (labor is $65/hour), plus it currently only gets about 23mpg (city).
