1993 Mazda MX3 GS Special Edition 1.8 DOHC V6

Summary:

If sex was a car, the MX-3 is better

Faults:

Seat belt retractor, factory recall, junkyard for 40 bucks.

Sticky rear caliper, some penetrating oil did the job.

General Comments:

Once upon a time I was blessed with buying a 93 MX3 GS Special Edition. He said the alternator was shot, when really the terminals needed the large blue growths cleaned off them. I snagged her for 450 dollars.

Oh lord, the beauty, nimbleness and agility blew me away. She was raspberry metallic, as I told my friends, I was man enough to drive a pink car. I named her Molly and she never ever gave me any issues, despite her 184,000 miles. She topped out at 127mph, no governor on this pony. Drove like the day she left the factory.

I made the mistake of selling her. At least I quadrupled my money. The guy never even haggled; he saw it and wrote the check. I miss her very much; the only import I've ever owned and it was the best car I've ever owned. RIP molly, I'll never forget you.

1993 Mazda MX3 GS 1.8 V6

Summary:

This car is the best starter car for anyone interested in getting involved in automotive sports

Faults:

Seats are worn really badly on driver 'seat' and on the passenger backrest.

The seat belts rub your neck pretty much all the time.

3rd gear seems to grind all the time, whether under pressure from the engine, or while cruising, or while slowing down. I believe it to be a slight defect that is present in a large percentage of MX3's out there. It has been grinding every shift for the ten year I've had the car!

General Comments:

A 1.8 liter V-6, that shouldn't be possible, but it is! This car really packs a punch. The base engine is great. good HP and enough torque to beat a stock 97 Honda Prelude off the line! My girlfriend and I have the same car, except mine is stock, and black, and hers is blue with some extras!

Her car has a huge K&N intake system under the hood, some great spark-plugs (I forgot the company), and a Magnaflow high flow exhaust. Now I know that doesn't sound like much of a difference, but it is like driving a whole different car. My girl's MX3 is so much faster. It's amazing what only $500 can do to the performance of the car. I almost forgot, her car has supergrippy tyres, and its still the stock enkeii 15" rims.

This car is just fantastic!!! I can't get over what a great deal this was! I urge anyone and everyone to somehow get this car, fix it up, and love it. Its worth it, let me tell you.

Happy driving, keep those MX3's on the road where they belong!

1993 Mazda MX3 GS 1.8 liter turbo V6

Summary:

Two words: Honda Killer

Faults:

I blew the first engine at 98,000.

Rust ate my exhaust. (That's VT for you!)

General Comments:

I love this car, what else needs to be said. My little blue sports car is fast. I have put a inter-cooler with a stage 2 turbo w/blow-off. Performance exhaust due to rust on the stock one. Planning on putting in dry shot of nos within the next few weeks. When it was stock it handled nicely had good reaction to the gas peddle and all from a small 1.8l V6. Mazda you have made a marvel.

When the engine blew, it was only a cracked cylinder due to low oil level. (Cracked oil pan). The most impressive part is it still ran, started, moved even just not very fast. I decided to put a newer V6 engine into her. I have never once regretted the decision.
