1993 Mazda MX3 GS V6 1.8L

Summary:

I love my little black beauty

Faults:

I haven't owned the car that long. The only thing I'm noticing now is that it is a little vibrating noise coming from the muffler or hatch. Its only when I'm going from a complete stop and I have my foot on the peddle hard. Also the shifting isn't the smoothest. I noticed if I let my foot of the peddle a little bit when its about to change gears, its a lot smoother. That doesn't really bother me though.

General Comments:

I love it. I was looking for a mx3 for a while. I was so bored with my cavalier. Everyone had one. Stuff kept breaking in it. So I decided to finally go import. I have no regrets. My parents both drive newer cars, but they still steal my mx3 from time to time. It's a Quick little car. And people turn there heads to see what it is a lot of the time. I love the fact that you don't seem them all over the place.

1993 Mazda MX3 GS 1.8 Liter V6

Summary:

Worth every penny

Faults:

Well, to be honest, nothing really. I bought this car to auto-cross race in H stock class. The car handles great, rotates when you brake hard, very neutral at high speeds. Regular maintenance is about all that has been needed. The CV shafts are finally going out after TWO YEARS of racing this car! Last year I spun off of the road and it somehow cracked one of my oil cooler lines. Other than that, not a thing is wrong with it.

General Comments:

I love this car. I can't believe Mazda had the guts to put a V6 in this tiny little car. The exhaust is nothing short of incredible. I've got a 2 1/4 inch cat-back exhaust on mine, and it's got a sound somewhere between a really bad ass sport bike, and an F1 race car. To put some more bite behind that bark, I've got a 2.5 liter engine sitting on a stand (hehe, some "modifications" are being made) in my garage. I expect to by very hard to beat. The car doesn't like to be lowered much, so if you are looking to retain the superb handling, don't over lower it. There isn't much aftermarket support, but being an obscure car also helps keeps you well off of the radar. ;)

1993 Mazda MX3

Faults:

Replaced timing belt just for security. It had around 132,000 on it when I purchased. I've driven car for around 30,000 miles, and only had to replace brake pads <so far so good>

General Comments:

If there was ever a car that looks faster than it is, its gotta be the MX3. Has a timeless, sporty look. Hard for others to believe it's a 93 model. Like I said, no true power. When you're on the highway, however, there's a hint of pep, when traveling over 65. I've done several things to improve the power. K&N intakes are a little expensive <$200> but provides noticable added HP. I also installed a cheap <$80> exhaust and noticed even more pep. Perhaps even to V-6 standards. There are quite a few goodies and add ons you can purchase on-line <Email me>

Just a set of headlight blackouts, makes an already sporty car look hot!!

There's also two body kits available, that'll make it look like a $30,000 sports car.

Despite its lack of true power, the MX3 handles well. You can easily add two more speakers. Enough trunk space for a good size sub enclosure, two amps and still enough space left for other things. The AC gets cold, but it'll slow you down to nearly cutting off <in my 5-speed anyhow>. Just for the heck of it. Try climbing in the backseat. I'm only 5'8 but have to tilt my head. Would never ride in the rear over 50 miles. Overall, for a car I paid less than $4,000 for, the MX3 has been reliable and trustworthy. With a little care and a few mods, it's a real head turner!!!
