1992 Mazda MX6 DX 2.2 non turbo
Summary:
Great, reliable car; especially for younger drivers
Faults:
Nothing unusual with this car has happened. Rather the only difficulties I've had are in the limited availability of parts for this model.
General Comments:
I list this for the MX-6 I still own, which my father purchased new in 92. I inherited it in 2000, and still have it. However, I have had 3 of this version of the Mazda GD series. This 92, a 92 626 (identical car with 2 extra doors) and an 88 MX-6 GT (again identical, but with a turbo charged motor). All have been excellent! The reliability has been top notch. 3 different drivers were taught how to drive a manual transmission on the 626 and still the factory clutch lasted 190k miles. A/C in all of them worked well, though the GT was converted to R-134, which still worked great. The clutch in the turbo car lasted a full 230k miles before being replaced. The 92 MX-6 has been used for competition since new and is still running strong. A rebuild for performance reasons 4 years ago showed that even with regular hard use, the cylinder walls hardly showed any wear.
All three cars got between 25-28 MPG in the city and 30-32 MPG highway, even with my lead foot.
The 626 was lost some years ago, when my wife and I were leaving the local shopping center. A young driver in a Buick Century was driving at 50 in a 25 on the road around the parking lot and smashed into the passenger side of my 626 at the A pillar. My wife and I walked away from the incident. I with no signs of any injury, and her with only bruising. The driver of the Buick was taken from the scene on a stretcher.
Only word of warning, avoid the auto trans... the manual gearboxes are great, but the autos are dogs!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I am responding to the review titled nerve wrecking.
Can you please tell me what you did to correct the problems that you had with the fuel intake. I am having the same problems and cannot figure out what I need to do to correct the problems. My car is jerky, stalls, is hard to re-start after stalling, etc. just like the problems you were experiencing. Help please. I bought the car used and have every problem that you have had.
