2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK 350 Cabrio 3.5 V6
Summary:
A practical, quick convertible
Faults:
Seat belt sensors have gone out 3 times in four years.
A fan belt pulley was replaced.
Occasional electrical glitches fixed by the dealer.
I have dented wheels on four occasions and blown out a tire once due to driving through potholes, so the stock 17" wheels could be stronger.
General Comments:
It has been a comfortable and reliable car.
The (first year in the USA) 7-speed transmission in my car feels like it shifts too lazily. I drove a new C-class as a loaner when I went in for service and the C-class's transmission seemed to shift better. I also drove an AMG SLK 55 for a while, and the transmission shift points were flawless in that car.
Convertible top works well and the heated/cooled seats are a good option.
Navigation is clumsy, but it works.
With the optional sport suspension the car is well balanced when driving fast.
The car is not hard-core sporty, but it is nice to drive.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I also have a CLK with model year 2006. My CLK is 200 Kompressor because of stupid tax laws in Turkey. It has 164 HP with 5 speed automatic gearbox. Actually it is not very fast, but the build quality, steering, silence of cabin, elegant pillarless design with smooth but powerful lines, all make me feel happy to drive it.
I have changed three of the wheels last year; the reason is potholes, except that no extra payments I did in four years, only the regular services, that's it.
