Faults:

The good things about the ML320 that I owned was that it was built like a tank and the seats were the most comfortable I had ever seen.

The worst thing was that the plastic parts of this SUV were of low quality and were breaking all the time. The seat recliners didn't work. The rear view mirror plastic broke. The moonroof fabric came off and looked horribly ugly. The car blew off dark smoke from its exhaust. The acceleration was sluggish and the vehicle failed to overtake slower moving cars even after flooring the accelerator. Later tried driving the Mitsubishi Endeavor and that SUV felt like a rocket compared to the ML.

Faults:

Many things have gone wrong with this vehicle. Engine and transmission are okay, but I had to spend many weekends at the dealer during the warranty period (4 years, 40K miles).

Driver's side window wouldn't wind up in winter, but remote tech was very helpful.

Brake pads and tires run out in 20K miles.

CD player went out.

Moon roof rattles at higher speeds.

Driver seat heater malfunctioned, such that I almost got my behind toasted.

After warranty lapsed, I basically took over repair and maintenance. I changed the door window switch one more time, three door actuators due to "machine gun door locks", rear truck door struts, etc. I have done my own oil change, spark plugs, brake pads & rotors, brake fluid flushes, transmission fluid changes, so on and so forth.

General Comments:

Engine and transmission are strong, but too many small problems. Used MLs are recommended only if you are handy.

Faults:

The only issue I have had with my car so far is the security alarm goes off ALL THE TIME for no apparent reason.

The radio volume will fluctuate for no apparent reason.

General Comments:

I have only had my car a short time, however thus far I am pleased. I have had only a few minor issues (knock on wood). The gas gauge constantly fluctuates, and the gas light seems to always be on, even though I have just filled the tank. Other than these issues, seems to be a nice, comfortable ride. Hopefully it stays that way!

General Comments:

This car is the best car I have owned. For example, I got in a car accident this year; man it was crazy, and this is how it started.

I was driving down a grade and was going 65 miles an hour. The next thing I knew, BOOM I was hit by a car; a sedan. So the two of us tried to pull over, then two big trucks like the dully kind hit the sedan, then the sedan hit my ML 430, and I was scared; I thought my car was smashed up, so all the cars including me pulled over.

I got out and called the police. They got there and said the other three people were sent to the hospital and their cars were totaled. So mine was the only one that could drive out, and so I looked at the back and it was a crack in the bumper.

Then the highway patrol came to me, and said if you were in any other car than Mercedes, you would have died. And that is why I love my Mercedes.

Faults:

Had 3 MB's... each owned about 220,000 miles... each ran outstandingly well until I traded... maybe you all need to understand... SERVICE YOUR VEHICLES... I do mine and they have been outstanding! Go to a similar BMW complaint website and you will find the same as here.

Over $11,500 in repairs.

General Comments:

I'm familiar with almost every problem listed. I have receipts totaling over $11,500 from Mercedes service department in Redwood City, California and my 2000 ML 320 has to go back AGAIN because the driver's window won't go up. Mind you I just had the motor fix in that window about 6 mos ago. the only thing that hasn't stopped working is the engine and the transmission and I'm hoping to get rid of the car before that happens. I'm afraid to drive my car long distance, I keep it in the city limits.

I thought I was driving the best. I am 48 years old and all I can say is that this is the most unreliable car I've every owned in my life, and I will never buy any kind of MB again - PERIOD! I feel used and abused. One lesson I did learn is that MB doesn't always mean the best.
