Faults:
I bought this used a month ago. I took it for MVI and it needed 4 new tires, two new upper ball joints, emergency brake work, exhaust work, alignment, oil, fluid and filter change and had a cracked windshield and needed some body work. I have all that looked after and it's inspected. It runs like a top! It'll need sway bar links soon. I paid $1000 for the car and approx. $1500 for the repairs to get it inspected.
General Comments:
This car is 12 years old, and still runs like a top.
All the electronics including the dash guages (digital), power windows and locks, power seats, power mirrors, trunk release, A/C, heater, defroster. Everything works on this.
I have the same issue previously mentioned, with the drivers door panel being a little loose, but I'm going to get that fixed. That's a common issue with Crown Vics and Grand Marquis - I've driven a few going through police training. FYI, these cars will do things that'll make other cars blush!
I know what these cars can do. I've driven these with 400000 km on them and they're an impressive car. Very reliable, very tough. Mechanics have said they can't believe how good the condition of this car is underneath for being 12 years old.
The car is GREAT on fuel for the power it has. I've calculated it at 9 L per 100 KM. You do the math on the miles per gallon. It's a misconception that these are hard on gas. That's one of many reasons they're used by police. They're the best of both worlds in power, comfort and economy.
The car is still comfortable, rides like a dream, handles excellent and starts every time with no issues. There's no car like a Crown Vic or a Grand Marquis - nothing comes close - anyone who's driven one will agree. This is my first car and I couldn't be happier! THEY ARE NOT AN OLD MAN CAR!

At 97,000 miles, unfortunately the engine developed a rod knock. Unexplainable really, there was no oil leakage, 5 quarts still in the engine, oil green and fresh. No oil pump failures, nothing. Just suddenly a rod knock. The whole engine needs to be replaced, will drive it a little more until I get a second car, and then change the engine with one with fewer miles. Too bad, I thought the powertrain would last for a much longer time...
