2005 Mercury Mountaineer Premier V8
Faults:
This was a 42 month lease.
Never left us stranded
Absolutely nothing went wrong for the entire time we leased it. Gas, brakes, tires. That's it.
OK, maybe I'm lying...
1st week - faulty gas gauge was replaced. Loaner given.
3rd year- an umbrella was stuck in tracks of the passenger seat. It was inoperable. Covered under warranty. Again a loaner.
Never did get to know my service manager on a first name basis. Wish I could say the same for the GMC Acadia that replaced the Mercury.
General Comments:
The V8 is thirsty. It hurt back then when we were nearing the $5 mark.
The car is a tank, built solid.
I wish that the 3rd row was split as in newer models.
I'm looking for a commuter/station car, which is what brought me to this site.
Go with Premier with all bells and whistles, you won't regret it. Back up sensors come in handy for city parking.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I agree. There are some transmission issues with this vehicle definitely. My 2003 shifts rough, especially when down shifting at lower speeds. Ford said that's just the way it is with this transmission. I've also had multiple things changed on the transmission, which haven't fixed the rough shifting. (More in my review)
