Nice,affordable, cheap to fix
Brake failure, front fender dent, fuel door wouldn't open when pressed fuel door button... but I fixed them :D.
Fun car to up-grade and drive.
Rare parts, I had to get a custom molded body kit.
Car is very fast after motor work (pistons, headers, exhaust, cold air-intake, K&N).
Handles very good after lowering.

Buy a topaz!!! very inexpensive for repairs!!!
Nothing has really gone wrong with this car. When I first bought it I paid $1400.00 as is. When I brought it to my mechanic he said it was one of the best ones he's seen in a while. For the safety it need a tie rod, rear stabilizer bar and an e-brake cable which was only $194.00 including labor. And I also brought it in for an oil change and my steering keeps sticking on me and the mechanic says it's fine and when they were looking at it, the noticed that a frost plug was starting to sweat so I had that changed as well.
This car has a lot of pep in her. she handle's great on the road and the seats are pretty comfortable. This is my first car and I hope I can rely on it through the harsh winter months ahead. Right now she is my baby, but if she turn out to be a lemon I'll put her where she belongs!!! SPEEDWAY DEMOLITION DERBY!!!

Yep, you got what you paid for when you bought that car. Topaz's and Tempo's are generally junk, and you bought one that has high-mileage with neglected maintenance. Sell it for what you can and don't buy another one of those cars again. I've seen a lot of the same problems on these cars with under 100,000 miles also. Don't worry, there are plenty of better cars for cheap out there that will not break your wallet.
These cars are not junk. Tempos need love and maintenance for a long happy life. The majority of these cars started their lives as rental cars and probably never got over the initial abuse. My 1994 Tempo has had a few minor issues over the years, and has it's share of quirks, but I still favor it over my 2004 Impala. The Tempo has superior air conditioning, better handling and most of all, a soul. My Tempo has survived 5 hurricanes, daily commutes of an hour in stop and go traffic and several long road trips. The Tempo/Topaz is what it is, transportation at it's most basic form. Love your Tempo/Topaz and she will love you back.
It's a great starter car, but don't look to win any races
The tie rods are junk in this car. I've had trouble with the front end since I got it, but that's probably my fault. I had some tire wear problems when the front end was broke. Had to replace one of the seats. The emergency brake doesn't work anymore. The paint is dull and doesn't look very good. The muffler rattles a lot and for awhile was on by a wire.
This car as been a great car for me. I have beat it up a lot and it still runs strong. I once didn't change the oil for 4000 miles and the filter for 7000 miles and the engine started knocking, but as soon as I changed it the knocking stopped. The front end will give you problems if you don't take it easy on it.

Is this the same mechanic who blessed it before your purchase? Either he doesn't have a clue, or saw your car to be a cash cow for himself. These items should have been caught when he "inspected" the car for you. An 11 year old car is going to have problems, but something as simple as lack of maintenance should have been caught during the inspection. I would find a new mechanic.
