1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS I-4 turbo
Summary:
Great little car
Faults:
Clutch wore out, but on a manual that old with that many miles on it, it's to be expected.
A/C didn't work.
Had to replace the fuel pump and timing belt around 79000.
The original CD player wasn't very good, so I replaced that.
Sometimes had problems shifting back into 1st, who knows I might have been going a little too fast.
Other than normal maintenance this was a great little car.
General Comments:
Well I picked this car up off my dad's friend who drove it about 2 miles a day from work and back over a period of about 10 years. That would explain why it had so few miles for that old of a car. Anyway, that guy kept up on all the maintenance (oil, spark plugs, etc.) so mechanically it was in very good shape.
Physically it was in pretty good shape, a few scratches, no dents and only two spots of rust on the front two fenders, right behind the corner lights.
The interior was in immaculate condition, seats looked brand new! The only problem was that the headliner was starting to fall down. That was easily fixable with glue and a little TLC.
Performance wise this little car was pretty sweet. I though it had great pickup for a four cylinder. Without the turbo I don't think it would have been that quick at all. Horsepower would have dropped from about 195 to 140, I think that was the difference, but I'm not to sure about it. The handling was incredible, could take turns really fast! The power steering was very responsive and suprisingly was better than most of the other cars I've driven.
Overall I was very happy with the car and would like to pick up another one when I get some time/money. I stopped driving the car because some people don't know how to drive on ice, enough said. Now I have a 1994 Grand Prix GTP and it's alright now that I've fixed it up a bit, but it's not as cool as the Eclipse!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Don't really know why it didn't give me a happy face once I finished posting because I LOVED this car!
