2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.4L

Summary:

It's not worth it.

Faults:

So far, with only 30K miles on the car, there have been the following issues:

The alternator is shot.

The radiator pipes have leaked requiring all to be replaced.

2 tires have gone bald with 2 remaining on the way. Note that there is not 50K on the car but I have had to replace tires!

Scrapes and dings everywhere from unknown sources so the car is not resilient at all in parking lots.

Hood clip was broken and had to be repaired.

Mitsubishi has no proof that I purchased extended warranty.

The service center sold me an alarm that never got installed. (I still only have the Factory installed alarm). The funny part is that they pointed out that to me that I didn't have the alarm that they had installed.

The car is so low to the ground that it bottoms out on everything.

Mitsubishi takes no ownership of their screw ups so don't work with the warranty center.

All of this in the last three months.

General Comments:

Yeah it's cute but I wish I had bought a mini. With only 30K on the car it should be fine but these problems are increasingly more annoying.

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MITSUBISHI EVER AGAIN. BUYER BEWARE!!!

When a car is critical to you in Los Angeles you have hard time not yelling into the phone.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

Did you consider that the previous owner didn't take care of it and probably drifted it? Any car is good if you actually take care of it. You have to know whats goingg on under the hood.

I am extremely disappointed in Mitsubishi, and I will NEVER buy another or recommend anyone I know to purchase one. There is definitely a DEFECT in the paint they have used, and yet they take no responsibility in fixing the problem. It is very very sad, this was my first car and after 4 years of taking extremely excellent care of it, the paint and clearcoat are falling off, it looks like CRAP!!! Mitsubishi should be ashamed of themselves.

I guess my 02 Eclipse had that same problem with the paint. I have a black one. When I bought my car just on end of Sept this year (2009) I noticed the whole car was repainted. I'm also having other issues like the starter not operating sometimes. I have to keep "clicking". eventually it operates.

No one drifts front wheel drive cars.

2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS 2.0L

Summary:

I love the car and always look forward to driving it when I get home from my Iraq deployments

Faults:

Nothing, runs great!

General Comments:

I've been pleasantly surprised at the excellent gas mileage this car has achieved. If I cruise at 75mph, it gets 40mpg. If I cruise at 80mpg, it gets 36mpg.

The car is quick with a top speed of 135mph.

It handles very nimbly, but tens to over-steer. The variable ratio power steering of my old Honda Accord would be a nice feature.

The only negative is that the emergency brake handle intrudes into the driver's leg room a bit, which can be annoying on long trips.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
