1994 Mitsubishi Galant LS V6

Summary:

A wonderful car for the going price of under $5000!

Faults:

Since I purchased this car, there have been no problems at all! I love the way it handles and its good on gas. Compared to my 1992 Ford Taurus L that I had in the shop once every five to six weeks, I have owned this beauty for a year now and have required no service to maintain it. This is only my second car that I've ever owned since I'm a new driver (2years), but I've been lucky enough to have driver the best and the worst of cars and can tell you that this car is great. Although its about eight to nine years old and I'm the third owner, there are no visible signs of wear on the car and it looks just as good as any of the new cars! I'm proud to own such a great machine and even with its high miles, I plan to keep it through college and make modifications on it throughout my ownership.

General Comments:

This can handles excellent and takes corners like a dream. Even at nine years old this car still isn't showing its age unlike that piece of crap Ford Taurus that I'm planning to junk within the next month before winter. One drawback that I encountered through driving this vehicle is that, compared to the Taurus, its cabin is smaller and I can't fit as much in it. Other than that the car is great!

Yes, I have had a 1994 Galant LS for about a year now. It's a wonderful car indeed. You can find them on the market from between $2,000 and $5,000. Most of them have a bunch of miles, but they'll run until at least 200,000+! I plan on buying a newer Galant, like a '99 - '01 next time.

1994 Mitsubishi Galant GS 2.4 Liter DOHC 4-Cylinder (150hp)

Summary:

Better than My Old Accord

Faults:

Car started to burn oil at about 100,000 miles. Needed new gasket.

Timing belt stared making annoying noises when car started up. Occurred at about 120,000 miles.

Car had a really hard time starting up. Needed new starter and flywheel. This happened at about 200,000 miles.

Car idled at about 3000 revolutions per minute (RPM). Needed an idle adjustment at about 220,000 miles.

General Comments:

I am a 24 year old women with 2 Children, and a nephew living with me. I couldn't find a better family car.

It may seem like a lot of problems, but it it has 224,000 miles on it. And it never stalled. The closest it got to not starting was when the flywheel went.

It is comfy, fully loaded with every single option. I got it when I was 16 when my 1986 accord died.

It turns many heads. Well it is the sport model.

I will buy another 1994 Galant as my second family car.

Makes me ask, "Honda and Toyota who?"

Mitsubishi owners look out for the belts on these cars. Every Mitsubishi or Mitsubishi-based Dodge I see had the belt just squealing away.

I would recommend the car for all types of people. they have something for everyone.

S model: For people who want cheap, but not spartan performance.

ES: Midrange model. Optional ABS

LS: Pure Luxury

GS: Sport and Luxury.

1994 Mitsubishi Galant ES 2.4 SOHC EFI

Summary:

A rich man's Hyundai, or a poor man's Toyota

Faults:

Power window lifters: all 4.

Clear coat exterior disintegration.

Numerous manufacturer recalls.

Automatic transmission: 3 replacements.

Front suspension control arms: 4 replacements.

Electronic switches on the dashboard.

General Comments:

I could have tolerated these problems if they had occurred under the warranty rather than after the expiration. Mitsubishi has a long way to go before successfully competing with the other Japanese brands. Honda, Toyota, and Nissan do a wonderful job of assembling their car on foreign soil with foreign workers. Mitsubishi made a big mistake assembling their cars in Illinois.

Did you get my car? This sounds just like what happened to our car. Ever since the warranty expired, we have had problems with the windows, timing belt, 3 transmission rebuilds and much more. Can they get away with this? When does the lemon law come into effect. I will never be buying a Mitsubishi car ever again. It's all GM on out from here.
