Faults:

AC seems to have stopped working. May just be a charge, but don't know for sure. Won't look at till summer.

Driver side door sensor seems to be a little funny. My wife has left the lights on the car twice (killing the battery) because the door sensor did not alert her.

No brake problems at all.

General Comments:

A lot of room for a small SUV. The 3.0 doesn't have much power, but I get about 21.0 MPG on highway. That makes it worth it.

Haven't tried towing, don't think I will.

4x4 works well in snow. Montero Sport is shorter than full sized Montero, which makes it handle a bit better and less top heavy. If you don't need the third row, get the Montero Sport.

Rear seats fold down, makes it easy to store a large amount of stuff. Roof rails also are nice.

Plenty of room for people and cargo fully loaded.

Except for the skid plate, which needs to be taken off before changing oil (a minor pain, but also worth it) it is really easy to maintain. North-south engine makes easy for maintenance on plugs and other stuff.

Good amount of storage space in the front and the trunk area.

Transmission seems to not shift very nice. It likes spending time in overdrive, even when going 30mph. Keeps it very quiet, but makes acceleration even slower when going up a hill.

Overall, great car. A lot of people knock the brakes, saying they go out before 20k, but people can't ride them as hard as they do. Most people move from compact or sub-compacts to SUV's, and they are used to riding the brakes of a 3,000 lb car.

Faults:

100 miles, brake noises and transmission noises every time it engages from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive.

At 48,000 miles, the check engine light illuminates.

At 48,000 miles, ignition problems occurred, misfire.

Seat belt on the driver's side would not retract harder; you must feed it thru its hole.

At 40000 miles, the rear (trunk) door latches starts to wear out. Hard to open, and sometimes the door won't open either with key or remote.

General Comments:

This car is not as quiet as other cars... you can hear the wind noise with all the windows closed.

The car's pick up is good; lots of torque from starting to run.

Faults:

The brakes went out at 7,000 miles. I have replaced the brakes again at 42,000 miles.

The automatic retractable antenna's mechanism had to be replaced in the first year.

The transmission shifts roughly. It won't shift at low rpms. It takes till 4k or 5k rpms. The dealer stated this is the norm. When I first bought it, it did not do this.

General Comments:

The seats are uncomfortable for long drives. (i.e. more than an hour)
