2007 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS V6

Summary:

Last time I grinned this much was when I owned a BMW M3

Faults:

55,000; replaced rotors and brake pads.

General Comments:

Range Rover looks, Evo quickness, more gadgets than a 007 (James Bond) car.

The car came loaded. 18 inch wheels, daytime running lights (fog lights), keyless entry, xenon headlights, 6+ cup holders, 2-3 compartments, onboard computer with touch screen, navigation, monitors everything (tire pressure, maintenance, weather, MPG, distance), Bluetooth capability, and a great, great Fosgate sound system.

This car is a definite upgrade compared to anything I've seen in its class. It competes against Honda, the RAV4, and the Tiguan... Similar reliability, but has looks that rival more premium SUVs (Lexus, Range Rover, BMW, Audi).

Very quick car. Can go into manual or automatic mode. Aluminum paddle shifters near the steering wheel, or up shift or down shift with the gear stick.

The ride is a little stiff, but the handling rivals sports cars.

Very handsome interior (black). Minor gripes: Seats could have been more comfortable. Rate it 6/10, comparing to previously owned cars: Volvo, Saab, Lexus, Honda, BMW, Acura, Toyota. Climate controls looked a bit cheap... Function won out over style in this department.

Overall impression: Smiley faces tell the whole story. >>>GRIN<<<

2007 Mitsubishi Outlander LX 3.0

Faults:

Experienced some clanking sound in 30,000 kms; took it to the dealership, and according to the mechanic, they need to tighten the joints (not sure exactly what joints).

General Comments:

Very good on gas, and I have it for 2 years now, and have not encountered any breakdown.

Spacious 1st and 2nd row seats, but would not recommend going for a 3rd row seat.

2007 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS 3.0 MIVEC

Summary:

The best well rounded compact SUV

General Comments:

I've driven the Sante Fe. The Outlander is much sportier, has a better warranty, and is more rare on the roads. Hyundai's are available as rentals.

It's very nice, and everyone I know I loves it. I would suggest looking at this if you're in the compact to mid size SUV market. Great price, but it adds up when you take into account financing and taxes, and all other fees when buying new vehicles. For the XLS model, it will be $40k+ before you drive off the lot.

The 9 speaker system is great. I am very happy with it.

The car has been solid and extremely reliable. Used for family travel, (city and highway) and towing a large camping trailer.

Excellent balance of power, luxury, economy and flexibility.
