1995 Mitsubishi Pajero Junior H57a 1.0 gas
Summary:
What a great little truck, which I think may last forever
Faults:
Bought this great little jeep from a dealer in New Jersey, sight unseen. Took delivery and have been pleased with it from the beginning. They must not use salt in Japan and take really good care of their vehicles; it has zero rust and looks like a one year old vehicle. Interior is perfect. The undercarriage still has shiny bolts, AMAZING.
The only problem I have had was a small crack in the upper radiator tank, which was fixed with a new factory radiator, which was pricey ($600 US), but I was able to get it in two weeks from Dubai. I went over the whole car and could not find anything needing attention except for several small instrument panel bulbs, tires, and belts and hoses. I found a great source for OEM parts and have ordered nearly $3000 worth of spares in case I ever need them.
General Comments:
This car grabs attention, first off there are very few Right Hand Drive cars in the US and its shape and size really gets the looks. I visited the local Mits dealer near my home and the whole dealership staff came out to look at it, including a 40 yr service tech for the Mitsubishi brand who had never seen one.
I bought this with the intention of having my wife drive it for a winter vehicle, however once I saw the condition it is in, it will be parked and only used on sunny days, it's that nice, has to be the best un-restored Pajero Junior left on the planet. It drives smooth, it is underpowered and you are limited to about 60mph because the engine revs about 4k at that speed. It gets about 28 mpg and the A/C and heat work very well. I turned it into a collectable toy, so my review is not on par with someone who would drive the wheels off it, but its basic design and nice build quality can't be ignored.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
