1996 Nissan 240SX 2.4 liter 4 cylinder
Summary:
A sleek, fun, sporty and reliable car for anyone who likes to drive
Faults:
Fuel pump went out with no warning about two weeks after I bought the car. Right after I replaced it, the 'check engine' light went on, but I was able to reset it and it hasn't come on since.
The odometer also has a tendency to stick a little (has stuck twice), but the numbers can be jarred loose by repeatedly pressing the trip odometer reset button.
General Comments:
This is such a fantastic car. It's very fast for a 4-cylinder, it handles great, and is solidly put together. There are virtually no rattles even on bumpy roads.
The front seats are comfortable. Unfortunately, the back seats are almost un-inhabitable if you are a larger than an average-sized adult. Probably okay for short trips, but I wouldn't want to sit back there on a four-hour drive. But nobody buys a sporty car for the back seats.
Fuel economy is okay, I get about 22 MPG doing mostly city driving.
Nissans tend to be very reliable vehicles. My feeling is that if you put the needed maintenance into the car, it will last for many years. The only financial downside is that collision insurance is a little on the high side.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

The '96 Nissan SX SE has been one of the most reliable and dependable cars I have ever had in the last 25 years. If only American's could build a car like this they would not be complaining about car sales.
It's a great car! I have had it garaged and drive it occasionally, but when I do I get about two offers to buy it.
Nothing done with the exception of the usual change the oil every 3,000 miles and replace the brakes when necessary. I will never get rid of it because this car is going up on blocks, and will probably become one of the first Japanese collector cars.
I have not had this much fun driving since I stopped using my 1970 Old's 442.
