1987 Nissan 300ZX turbo

Summary:

A new experience and appreciation whenever I drive it

Faults:

The seals on the tail lights fatigued, allowing water to enter resulting in some rust which had to be removed.

The turbo had to be replaced.

General Comments:

This car is a powerhouse. The ultimate in responsive handling and cornering.

Long distance trips are comfortable and I've never experienced driver fatigue after a long haul.

1987 Nissan 300ZX 3.0 Liter V6 non-turbo

Summary:

One of the best cars in the world

Faults:

Fuel injectors replaced.

Fuel pump, distributor, alternator replaced, front wheel bearings, clutch, timing belt.

Most of these items were replaced between 88,000 and 125,000 miles.

Some minor interior wear.

General Comments:

This car handles better than anything I've driven with the exception of a Porsche 944. Excellent cornering, brisk but not muscle-car-like acceleration.

Wonderful, smooth engine and crisp 5-speed shifter make this a pleasure to drive on every trip, whether it's a commute to work or a multi-state twisty-road trip.

The design of this car reminds me of some early Ferraris.

As for the criticism that it's too heavy or too luxurious to be a true sports car. Nonsense! A little comfort and a lot of sports-car handling performance add up to a terrific, affordable package.

My 300ZX was my life, my pride and joy, I had to put it to rest, but being that I am in Germany it is impossible to get another one, but I am looking. It's the best thing on 4 wheels. I miss my girl telling me the gas is low and door is open, my baby used to talk to me.

I love these cars. they are one of few 80s sports cars that can keep up with a Citroen BX 16v around corners. I own an 88 Californian edition turbo. it will beat a BX of the mark, but not around corners. still. it was an awesome car to own and drive.

I owned a 1987 Maxima SE, 3.0-V6 with the 5-speed transmission. The engine is almost identical to that of the 300 sports car. I can attest to the fact these are some of the best cars in the world. Even when my car was 21 years old, it ran like brand new. The engine was smooth, excellerated with no problems and the most comfortable ride in its class. I enjoyed the suspension shock adjust system. The "S" designation was soft and luxurious and the "F" which was my favorite gave the car an amazing sports-car-like feel to it.

The car was totalled but if I can ever find it in the condition I left it, I may seriously consider purchasing it back.
