2005 Nissan Altima
Summary:
Not reliable
Faults:
My head gasket is being replaced for the 3rd time.
General Comments:
I bought a 2005 Altima in 05. 3 months later, I started having overheating issues. I took it right in to Nissan and they told me they had to replace the head gasket. 6 months later the problems came back, they had to replace the head gasket again!! This month, my car starting doing the same things all over again!! Its in the shop now, and they think the block head is warped. Which means they will have to replace the head and the head gasket again!! I have never had this many problems with a vehicle in my life! Thank goodness I am 2000 miles below the 60,000 warranty and it will be covered!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

98 Maxima? That is one of the most reliable cars that Nissan ever made. That is before they got in bed with Renault in '99 and cheapened their products massively. Hold on to that car for dear life!
I have a 96 200SX with 230k miles on it, and it runs great.
Also have a 94 Maxima with 160k miles and an original auto tranny.. runs like a champ as well.
Newer models, post 1999, not so much.

Dude that really sucks... but that's just bad luck or something because I've never heard of something like that from a new Nissan. Sounds more like an American car or a German made-in-Mexico make...
Nissan is a pretty reliable car. I have a '98 Maxima 3.0 with 184xxx miles and a '05 Altima 2.5s with 67xxx miles and no problems; just brakes, rotors and oil (knock on wood).
Maybe yours was made a Friday right before payday haha.
