Faults:
Alternator bracket cracked at about 20000 miles. It was replaced by the dealer under warranty.
The alignment geometry of the front wheels is not correct in correlation to a straight steering wheel. I have had the vehicle aligned several times to the manufactures specifications by the dealer and independent shops, but the steering wheel has never been straight from day one. On the up-side the the tires never show camber or toe wear.
The original Nissan battery finally failed after eight years of service in 2001. Incredible.
General Comments:
This truck was built in Smyrna TN. I had my doubts about the quality of this truck being made here in America versus Japan. But this truck has been and is extremely reliable. All I have had to do is the required maintenance service every three months.
The hills of Colorado definitely challenge the the four cylinder engine. So driving in third gear and patience is must at times. At a lower altitude this truck would probably perform better.
The interior has held up remarkably well over the years. I just put a little vinyl protectant every 3 months on the dash and doors and this has kept the interior looking almost as new as the day I bought this truck.
With regard to the exterior paint, it has held up well over the years with hardly any fading.
Who says Americans can't build a good Japanese car.

The reason it grinds when you make turns in 4wheel drive is because your CV joints are popping! It might be too late to save them, but the grease boots on the nissan pickups have a history of busting so you need to look! But all in all that's not a very big problem!
