A reliable yet cheap vehicle
Starter just went out at 113,000 miles.
Battery had to be replaced at 110,000 miles.
Drivers sun visor broke.
This truck is very reliable and peppy.
I have had it up to around 125 to 130mph with only a few modifications.
The only problem I have with it is that I can't find many performance parts for it.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

A solid mechanical user friendly sharp truck!!!
Nothing is wrong with the truck however it has an ever so slight valve cover leak!!!
I knew the auto trans would be slower than a stick shift, but it has more power than the toyota truck!!! The bench seat sucks!!! I hope to change it.

A+ dependable little truck
At about 50K miles the check engine light came on. The fault was a bad throttle position sensor. It cost $140 part and labor to have repaired at a Nissan dealership. No other problems at all.
Other than routine service, oil changes etc. and fuel, it has cost me 140 dollars to drive this truck 113 thousand miles.
I have never had a more dependable vehicle than my Nissan. They built an awesome product that is built to last.
I have nothing but good things to say about this vehicle. It has never let me down or left me stranded. This truck cost 12K new and was definitely worth every cent.

Perfect truck for experimenting on
My brakes went out at about 75000 miles, but they were apparently worn slightly when I bought the truck. My driving probably was the main cause of the bad brakes.
My battery went dead at 86000 miles. It was probably the original battery.
I was very impressed with the performance of this truck. It has great low speed acceleration and handles very well.
High speed acceleration is fair, but the truck seems to top out about 90-95 miles per hour.
I have helped numerous people move with my truck, and it never disappointed me.
I prefer bucket seats, and plan to put them in after removing the stock bench.
The factory stereo was not at all what I wanted, so I replaced it.
With a wider wheel and tire combo, combined with stiffer suspension, the truck would handle even better.

Super tough
Throttle position sensor malfunctioned.
Check engine light stays on due to carbon build up in the fourth cylinder (not covered under the warranty).
This has been one of the most faithful and reliable trucks I have ever had. Even when the throttle sensor malfunctioned, it kept going strong.
It can do just about anything you need it to do... great to go in the woods with and make a new trail! In fact, a friend of mine has one just like it, but he doesn't take care of it (no oil change in the past 30,000 miles, and keeps the windows down) and it still can outrun some other vehicles without skipping a beat!

I just traded my '97 2x2 for a '97 4x4. To my surprise the fuel consumption was not bad. It has the same motor and transmission (standard 5 speed, 4 cylinder).
It's a great truck and it's fun to drive. After looking at new and slightly used Toyota trucks, I found a perfect '97 Nissan 4x4 with only 31,000 miles. My truck was also a '97 with 61,000 miles but didn't have the four wheel drive. I traded my truck and a few thousand dollars for what seems like a pretty good deal so far.
I'm glad that I found a nice Nissan. My '97 never had any problems other than the engine light situation. I do however have a question that perhaps someone could answer... why do I see the same transparent tape used on several wires above the valve cover as on my other '97 truck? Was this the result of a recall?

I have a 1997 Nissan Pickup truck with 60,000 miles. I like the truck, but it has one problem that I can't figure out. Every time I start it up after it sits for a while there is a rattle under the hood that lasts for about 2 or 3 seconds.
