1991 Nissan Maxima SE V6

Summary:

So far so good, be careful when looking

Faults:

One major, and potentially life threatening problem with this vehicle is that water, mud, salt, and a variety of other materials can get lodged in between the gas filler neck, and the wheel well. This results in the filler neck rotting, as well as the wheel well. Where it rots on the wheel well is where the drivers side rear seat belt goes, and it will basically just fall off. You should check for the rotting condition by opening up the trunk and looking behind the liner. If it was fixed by Nissan you should be okay, but if not, and the damage exceeds what Nissan feels the car is worth, they will buy it back from you and total it out. I was lucky, the damage was repaired at the dealer. A testament to Nissan as the car is 15 years old. they stand behind their product. kudos.

Sounds like the weather, and the high mileage has a lot to do with the problems you mentioned. Remember this not a new car, and you don't live in Arizona, where you could probable buy quality used parts at a reasonable price, and the car wouldn't rust. I think you're being too hard on the car!!!

1991 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0

Summary:

Great car to own

Faults:

Power window modulators work inconsistently on drivers side.

Will need to replace timing belt soon.

Removed broken sun-roof visor.

General Comments:

This car is a lot of fun.

It's very roomy and perfect for a family.

It's very sporty and drives great.

The six cylinder engine is a bonus for greater performance without pinching your wallet at the gas station.

Great car to own if it's well maintained by previous owner.

I own a 1991 Maxima SE, 5 speed. I previously owned 1985 Ford Thunderbird V8, automatic transmission.

Noticed a huge difference in gas consumption between the two. The Maxima won't kill your pocket book at the pump.

Maxima is faster than T-Bird. However, parts for the Maxima are a lot more expensive.

Great, reliable car if maintained by previous owner.

Can still find new parts on-line for this model.

1991 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0L V6

Summary:

I love my maxima!

Faults:

Very few things have gone wrong with my car. None were serious.

1 clutch replacement, but having almost 319,000 miles, I'd say that's pretty good.

Radio died. Replaced as a birthday present.

My digital clock works when it wants to.

Driver seat back broke, easily fixed.

Normal care, maintenance and up-keep of the car required.

General Comments:

Nissan did a very good job of designing a sedan that feels like a sports car. I love the comfort, handling, power and versatility of my maxima. At first glance of a proud mustang owner at a traffic light by my house, my car seemed easy to beat. Or so they thought. I had the last laugh as they were looking at my completely stock maxima's tail lights. Long live the 4DSC!

1991 Nissan Maxima 3.0L V6

Summary:

A very reliable car

Faults:

Fuel lines, sump and gas tank and muffler all rusted out. But the car did spend it's life in Ontario and was 13 years old.

General Comments:

I bought this car to travel around Canada/US while on holiday for a year. Many things did not work, the cruise control, air conditioning, key-less entry on the door, but hey, with the age and the unbelievable amount of kilometres this car had traveled, it was a real beauty. I traveled 13000kms in this car when I owned it, and the engine never missed a beat. Even the auto transmission slipped from the day I bought it and it still covered all those kilometres. Totally reliable. Build quality was excellent, I would not hesitate to buy another.
