2000 Nissan Maxima GLE 3.0 V6 Automatic

Summary:

A car that only gets better

Faults:

I purchased the car used and it is a great vehicle. However, the "Check Engine" light came on the first weekend I had the car. It turned out just be the oxygen sensor and was covered by my 30 day warranty.

The sunroof has a small leak, but is not an issue.

I have had no other problems with this car.

General Comments:

This car is quick and handles like a dream.

The Seats are comfortable and easy to adjust.

The climate controls are easy to use and very well marked.

I have to say this is the best car I have ever owned.

2000 Nissan Maxima SE V6

Summary:

A beautiful fast car with an available 5 speed

Faults:

I added a performance part and the nut broke of when undoing a mounting screw.

General Comments:

I'm still impressed with the way it handles, the 17 inch tires are wonderful.

I love the fact that it's one of few that offers the sporty five speed transmission.

If it wasn't a good car I would not have boughten three of them, a 90 and a 96 Nissan Maxima.

And the only thing that had problems with those was window regulators.

I recommend the manual only.

2000 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0L V6

Summary:

Good sporty sedan with great fit and finish

Faults:

2 Catalytic converters and 2 oxygen sensors at 75,000 miles.

Bose amp turn on relay replaced at 75,000 miles.

Mass airflow sensor replaced at 112,000 miles.

Cam position sensor replaced at 112,000 miles.

Engine wiring harness repaired at 112,000 miles.

General Comments:

Fit and finish of car is still excellent at 112,000 miles. No rattles or squeaks.

Exterior paint still in decent shape after 4 years with very little wax ever used.

Engine and transmission run like new after 112,000 miles.

This car was run for the first 75,000 miles with regular fuel instead of premium. This was the likely culprit to having to get the catalytic converters and oxygen sensors replaced early. MAKE SURE TO USE PREMIUM FUEL IN THIS CAR!!!

2000 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0 V6

Summary:

BMW 3 series performance --at a bargain price

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

This is a bargain 4-door sports sedan.

The 3.0 V6 engine is sweet. Great acceleration and plenty of power. In fact almost too much power for a FWD car. The torque steer tends to be excessive. But this car is born to run. You can be cruising at 70 MPH, floor it, and it'll take off like a rocket. This car loves to cruise at 80 MPH on the highway.

Handling is above average for a sedan.

Interior seating comfortable, especially the back seats. Plenty of rear legroom for average sized adults.

Downside: This car drinks premium gas only. The price you pay for the performance.

The tire size, 225/50-17, is an unusual size, not much of a variety of after market tires.

2000 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0

Summary:

Great car with faulty power windows

Faults:

Power windows switches on passenger side broke.

Speaker on passenger side crackles.

Driver seat makes a squeaky noise.

Also leather wearing on left side of driver seat.

General Comments:

Overall it's a great car with a few glitches. You think for the price it wouldn't have any.

2000 Nissan Maxima GLE 3.5

Summary:

Best sport coupe

Faults:

Check engine light went on at 48000 miles.

Car stoles within 1 minute if started when cold.

General Comments:

2000 Nissan Maxima SE 4D 3.3 V6

Summary:

This is a high performance, low maintenance car

Faults:

No repairs have been necessary in 2 years of ownership.

General Comments:

This car packs a lot of power in the punch, has awesome acceleration and is a kick to drive.

The turn-radius is superior.

The seats are not as comfortable as they could be, the headrest especially.

The cabin is roomy, the back seat feels like your sitting in the front seat with all the leg-room.

The tires were a small fortune to replace b/c of the size rims that come standard on the SE.

I own a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE. The car is great, but has a problem that I have been talking to the dealerships about. The coils that fire the spark plugs are shorting out. No recall has been issued yet, but other owners have witnessed the same problems. A repair of this nature is not cheap, unlike the conventional spark plug wire replacement. My coil or coils started shorting out at about 41,000 miles.

I agree with the survey, except the section of no problems. This survey is from one of the lucky owners so far. I thought the car was one of the best I had ever owned, but this problem may lead me to reconsidering my thoughts. If you have these same problems, please press the factory for a recall. I am trying my hardest to save the name of the Maxima. Thank You.

2000 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0L V6

Summary:

Great value! Great car! Good blend of luxury and performance

Faults:

Slight plastic against plastic noise in front right hand corner. It was fixed right away by the dealership.

General Comments:

Slight pet peeves

1: Elbow keeps pressing on the centre armrest "button" which raises the armrest (This probably only happens to manual transmission drivers who shift gears more often than automatic transmission drivers).

2: Would have prefered a little stronger brakes.

Stillen has designed a supercharger for the 2000 Maxima. Adds about 80 hp. Should be nice.

2000 Nissan Maxima SE 3.0 V6

Faults:

"Service Engine Soon" light came on around 3000 mile mark. The dealer didn't fix it on the first round. Now I'm waiting for more parts for that.

General Comments:

It's an overall solid and reasonably priced car. Just that the problem really kinda put a stain on Maxima's legendary reliability...

I have had the same experience. The light keeps coming on. The dealer assures me it is nothing, but it has happened 4 times.

I just bought a used 2000 Nissan Maxima GXE. The second day it was driven, the car stalled on me 3 times when it was put into park or when it was just turned on (already in park). I've brought it to the dealership mechanics, but they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They also brought it to another dealership's mechanics and they also can't find out whats wrong with it. If anyone finds out what's really wrong, please let me know at bsamuel@temple.edu.
