2004 Nissan Maxima SE

Summary:

Defective

Faults:

Transmission is going bad... jerking bad!

General Comments:

I am so glad to know there are others who are having the exact same problem with their '04 Maximas. Thought I just had a lemon!

I never know when it will start jerking. Does it bad when I've been driving around town a lot. Been noticing it for a year now.

Has ANYONE gotten anywhere with this issue? And to top it off, just purchased an extended warranty and think they might try to rip me off too!!!

I have the same problems, beginning at around 55,000 miles.

2004 Nissan Maxima SE V6

Summary:

Don't buy it. Will pay for it twice in service

Faults:

At 90K miles both rear wheel bearing assemblies failed - very expensive.

179K engine light #1 cylinder - $1700.00 in repairs this month.

Struts and brakes repaired numerous times.

General Comments:

This is my third Maxima. Never again. 2004 model is not what I am accustomed to driving. Have probably spent 7000.00 in repairs.

2004 Nissan Maxima

Summary:

This is our worst buy ever

Faults:

I went to buy a Nissan Maxima this past weekend. Taking equity out of my house to buy a more dependable car.

I drove the car about 25 miles from the dealership to my home, and of course too good to be true, LOL. The transmission started making a loud clunking noise, and when you would step on the gas it didn't want to go.

I took the car back to them the next day, and they said they were putting a new transmission in it. Thank goodness we had a year warranty on the engine. I don't think I want to keep the car after I get it back due to all the problems I've seen.

Thanks everyone.

General Comments:

This car might look good, but is bad news.

Don't buy one.

2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5

Faults:

Started having jerking problems a few weeks ago.

Just yesterday the service engine soon light came on, it started losing a lot of power while driving and cutting off. Had to replace camshaft sensor and two other parts in the engine.

I love my Max and it's very upsetting to see it act like this. If so many Max owners are having problems with the same part of the car, Nissan should fix them.

2004 Nissan Maxima SE 3.5

Faults:

Had the Goodyear tire problem, cracking sidewalls. Dealer failed to disclose this to me until after I filed a complaint. Originally just want to charge me $1,200 to replace the tires with less than 30K on them.

Transmission started slipping at 58k, they charged me for a trans service/flush and it helped for long enough to get the car out of warranty. Now I have the exact same problem with the trans that everyone else has.

AC when out right after warranty too.

RF strut rattles like others, of course the front heat shield.

Ate up a second set of tires in 20k, on third set of tires in first 70K!

Car blows cold air from heater when idling; this occurred within warranty, dealer bled coolant system; same problem reoccurred after warranty expired.

The car has great power and looks nice, but reliability is horrible. Many complaints to the NISSAN complaint department with nothing resolved, NISSAN is a JOKE. I should have learned my lesson on the first 93 Maxima that had the cam chain tensioner problems; one set covered under warranty, defective parts installed again, problem reoccurred right after warranty, and NISSAN did what they appear to do best, turn their backs on GOOD CUSTOMERS.

NISSAN burned once, burned twice, lost me, my family and friends and anyone I can tell FOREVER!!! Show me where to sign for the class action.

Same for me on the tires - received the call back notice on tires about three months after replacing at my $$. Timing belt tensioner went at 100K - dealer replaced both chains for $2400. Reason for my Google search today was to see if anyone had a sky light exploded. Glass person (JNP) said they just had another 04 in on Saturday with exploded skylight - same year, same color, and same town! They are checking the vin #.

Having so many problems with my 2004 Nissan Maxima... Started with the transmission (Many thousands to repair with a brand new transmission).

And now the sky light turns on when the car is in reverse, making it very difficult to see at night while backing out of my driveway.

Lights on front console have a mind of their own; sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.

Lost lights on outside of vehicle including headlights, taillights & brake lights, replaced all fuses for lights to work for about 1 hour only to burn out again. That repair was in the thousands.

Now the car will not make right turn... The problems just keep coming.

Very disappointed with my purchase. My family & I have been Nissan owners since the early 80's, & never encountered so many problems with our previous cars.

I wish I could just get rid of this car, because I am in debt because of it.

I have no chance of selling this vehicle, knowing that I would feel horrible selling this car to my worst enemy.
